TPK under Parrot Island...

Liberty's Edge

So, it has happened! A TPK. That's TOTAL PARTY KILLED, if you somehow didn't know that.

So did, in depths of Parrot Island's underground lair, ravenous zombies slay our heroes after they were lured to the island and trapped within it's dark underhalls.

The fallen are...

Veddar Gall, a Human Ranger valiantly fought the undead, easily killing the mjority of the undead.
Rexam Darkspittle, a Half-Orce Urban Brawler (urban barbarian), was doomed from the start of the campaign.
Jericho, a half-elven sorcerer, knew it was all over when his familiar was snatched out of the air and eaten by a zombie in one round.
Kali Oakenheel, a elven druid, who the party wished had been a cleric...

So they are fallen. The heroes are dead, long live the heroes!

(Side note, I have not had a TPK in a long time, easily 15+ years. One of my players (Rob) was all but jumping up and down in excitment over the idea of them all getting wiped out. (Yeah, he needs help.))

Next week their new characters will be picking up where the others left off...which will likely lead to them fighting their old ...undead... selves.

And yes, none of the new characters are clerics.

How? Zombies can only take one standard action each round; that sounds rather nimble for the walking dead. They can't even move and attack in the same round unless they charge.

Still, the look on your player's face was probably priceless. :)

The Raven was sent in to attack, at this point only Jericho and the raven were 'standing'.

The raven went in to attack. As a Tiny critter it provoked an AoO when it attacked (having to enter the zopmbie's square when it attacked) and the zombie criticaled it's attack. I rolled a maximum on the damage die, plus the critical. In all, it was about 2x (maybe 3x) the HP the Raven had.

That little mutha was swallowed whole.

But to answer your question in general. Ravenous Zombies automatically deal Bite Damage when they make a successful Grapple Check. It's under the Feed (Ex) note on page 28.

Ouch!

At least it didn't suffer long. :)

Liberty's Edge

Nope, that's for sure.

Well the new band of heroes after the TPK (above) managed to get through Parrot Isle. Barely.

So the new group wouldn't waltz about, I did turn some of the dead-dead zombies into standard skeletons, so the new guys could get some exp.

Despite having no cleric (again) in the group, the group mananged to take out the Hecuva and the sole zombie and some skeletons, though two members of the group did go KO.

In the end the Hecuva was taken down by a large number of Acid Splash 0-Level Spells, a few alchemist ires (never hit, got splash damage) and a Potion of Healing.

Yeah, I know a poiton of healing should be drunk but I okay'd it being used as splash weapon. The Player was really descriptive about it, and he cracked it against it as a melee attack and not some missile thing.

Other then that, they couldn't damage the thing as they didn't get my hint about the silver dagger they found in the pool.

Once again the group would have criticaled about 12 times, save they were fighting undead! LOL.

In the end they had an encounter they'll not forget anytime soon and they are most definately "tired" of undead and DR and are looking forward to busting some "living heads."
