Any Idea what the stats of a red fox are?

I've got ideas but I have one as a pet in Grimcleaver's online game and I feel too biased to make it myself.

I guess physically speaking giving it the hit dice and abilities of a small dog would work but I have no idea where it's intelligence/skills would be.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

I'd probably use the cat as the starting point, maybe up the bite attack to a d4 and remove the claw attacks. I could see giving it a slight bump in Str or speed. For skills, Hide, MS, Listen, and Spot are the easy picks, with stealthy being an appropriate feat.

The small dog is still a decent sized animal, bigger than I think a fox is. Also, the Str seems very high. The "small" dog is really more of a collie or golden retriever rather than a pug.

I would use the Arctic Fox from Frostburn --

Small Animal
HD 1d8-1
Initiative +3
Speed 40 ft.
AC 15 (+1 Size, +3 Dex, +1 Natural)
Base Attack +0
Attack Bite +4 melee (1d4-2)
Sapce/Reach 5/5
Low-Light Vision, Scent
Saves Fort +1, Ref +5, Will +1
Abilities Str 6, Dex 17, Con 8, Int 2, Wis 13, Cha 6
Hide +9, Listen +4, Spot +4
Feats: Alertness, Weapon Finesse
CR 1/4

The Hide is +8 racial bonus for areas of snow or ice (it is an arctic fox), but it might be similar for other environments.

Hope that this helps.

That looks better! A fox shouldn't be stronger than an average person (a small dog has a 13 Str) or very hearty (a small dog has a 15 Con).
