Just read "The Bullywug Gambit" last night and I have to say so far this AP is starting out just awesome. If the rest of the adventures are of the quality of the first I think this will be an incredible campaign. I have a friend (who will be a player in my STAP campaign) who is a big fan of Nicholas Logue, and I can see why. I had played in "Chimes at Midnight" and found it very enjoyable, so I was really looking forward to this adventure. And it did not disappoint at all. I have to tip my hat to all those at Dungeon who are working on this, because it is incredible.
One question: when did bullywugs originally appear in D&D? I remember them, but I can't find where they made their debut. Was it OD&D? 2nd Edition? I know they're a Realms monster now, but I've never played FR and I could swear I remember playing with bullywugs! Or am I just remembering the D&D cartoon and thinking I played in it? :)

Yup; they've been around since around 1982. They were indeed in 2nd edition as well, and despite the fact that they were updated to 3rd edition in Monsters of Faerun, they're as core a D&D monster as yuan-ti and aboleth (who were also both first introduced in Dwellers of the Forbidden City, along with those cagey bullywugs). They've actaully got a stronger tradition in Greyhawk than in the Realms... there's actually quite a few monsters in "Monsters of Faerun" that are like that, honestly...

Yeah, it goes right up there with the Rhagodessa coming out of the Isle of Dread adventure. I ordered a copy off Ebay and read it for some background knowledge, and it really is a great source for 1st edition. Lots of cool stuff was introduced way back that it sounds like they are bringing into this adventure path. I can't wait to see it played out!

That's just to make up for the classic Realms monsters yoinked into the core books. ;-)
