I have noticed that I have spent almost $50 on my subscription to Dragon Magazine – however that I would have to buy the Player’s Guide to Savage Tide from Paizo to actually get the Map of Sasserine.
Why Isn’t the map part of Dragon Magazine?
Or at the least a free online download?
The map of Sasserine came with Dungeon 139. Since they have made the diferention of Dragon for PCs and Dungeon of DMs (roughly) that makes sense.

No it doesn't make sense!
If you buy the PLAYER'S GUIDE from Paizo - it contains a map.
Why isn't the map included with the published PLAYER'S GUIDE?
Because a vast majority of players do not need the map, and if they do happen to play in the AP and they want the guide then they can have it. A higher percentage of DMs will be running the AP and they WILL need the map, so it is included in Dungeon and not Dragon.
It actually costs money to make the map, print it, fold it, package it with the magazine etc. From a cost point of view and a resource point of view it makes sense.
If from a "I want it cause I want it and don't want to pay for it" point of view then nothing will ever make sense. It's just a map... without the adventures - found only in Dungeon- it's useless. Still makes sense to me.

Ummm, the entire Player's Guide (including the map, one would presume) will be available as a free download PDF. I don't see a link for it yet, but it should be available fairly soon since subscribers have started receiving their copies of the relevant issue of Dungeon.

No it's not for the sake of wanting it but to use as a resource.
I have no idea what your articles are talking about when you refer to the 7 distinct districts with each it's own characteristics -
It would be correct to assume that the map of Sasserine - even if just a single page - be available to the PAYING subscriber / customer - or online in a PDF form for subscribers to use -
It's like telling half the story - - ridiculous.

...I remember a time when all you had to have was a pencil, some paper, a hand full of weird dice, and a big imagination to play DnD.
Correct me if I am wrong, but is the concern here that you have access to information about Sasserine without having access to a map of the city? I can only assume that you are looking at the Savage Tidings article in Dragon #348, since both the Player's Guide and Dungeon #139 have maps. This being the case, then yes you are in a conundrum. It takes a painfully long time for the free, online enhancements to become available. But have you seen the quality? Did you notice the key word "free"? Patience, man, patience.

BTW - if there are budget concerns - not my problem since i'm already paying $50 for a friggin' subscription to a hobby mag. - that unto itself seems ridiculouss - how about sending subscriptions out in PDF form if you want to save money?
- or even on a cd-rom - cheaper to mail and create!
Hey, Zachary, maybe you're a new subscriber (at least that's what I'm going to assume from your posts), so this is the deal. Dragon does not usually include adventure maps. Articles therein are geared towards both player and DM, but mostly the player, thus if it has to do with an adventure in that month's Dungeon, it will be found there. Dungeon is for adventures and any maps usually come with it.
There have been so many threads discussing the ins and outs of why the magazine is not produced as a .PDF, I'm not going to touch it except to say this: Paizo is a publishing company with license agreements with Wizards of the Coast and until WotC changes the agreement, Paizo is not allowed to release entire magazines as .PDFs unless they completely sell out. Now, considering how much free stuff that Paizo offers as downloads you have to pay ZERO $$$ for, you are getting your moneys worth and then some. As was said previously, have a little patience. However, if you feel like you just need to complain after all of the helpful responses you've gotten, you can go here and vent to your heart's content --> http://paizo.com/paizo/messageboards/dnd/general/placeYourRantHere

Zach, it looks like lots of people have jumped in to help explain this to you, including Dragon staff, but I just want to clarify what I think is the root of your problem, here:
You got this issue of Dragon, and there was an article in it about a town... a town for which there was no map. That seems a bit odd, I'll grant you.
Howver, keep in mind that the article is not meant to be a standard Dragon article. It is intended to be an aid for players who are actively taking part in a Savage Tide campaign. Your concerns are a bit like crying foul when Dragon publishes an updated creature from Ravenloft, saying that they didn't give you the campaign backstory. It is assumed that this information is of the most use to people who already MUST have that infromation.
It's a bit different from your typical Dragon article, and more like the Wormfood articles from the Age of Worms adventure path this previous year.
I hope this helps, and please let us know how your Savage Tide game goes!

And the editor of the magazines has personally posted on here to let YOU know that a FREE downloadable pdf will be available shortly and will have all the info you wanted, maybe without the map but so what. Buy Dungeon if you want a map. Stop being a jerk. ALL of your concerns were addressed and yet you still complained. You owe the Editor-in-Chief and apology but I doubt you have the maturity to admit it.

It actually costs money to make the map, print it, fold it, package it with the magazine etc. From a cost point of view and a resource point of view it makes sense.
And it also costs extra money to create etc. a player's version of the map, without such non-helpful clues as listing the names and locations of a bunch of seemingly unimportant people.
