Dragotha: Red versus Black

Age of Worms Adventure Path

Dragotha, as just about anyone who has been following this AP knows, is featured in the second-to-last AoW adventure, Expedition to the Wormcrawl Fissure (title may be off by a word or two).
However, Wizards, in a web enhancement for White Plume Mountains (which was updated and put online) they statted out Dragotha again. However, he is a bit weaker and is a black dragon.
Otherwise, the web enhancement is actually pretty neat, and has some other cool stats, as well as art (I think it's new, but I may be wrong) by what looks like Wayne Reynolds!

Anyways, as far as the AP is concerned, which Dragotha is better to use? Wizards' Dragotha is slightly weaker, and may be more flavorful in your campaign. It is useful if you don't think that your PCs can handle the red Dragotha. Paizo's Dragota is stronger and has more history behind it, but then again, it's easy to change it from having been a red to a black dragon, and may even fit into the environment better.

Then, of course, there's the other option (that I'm using) where the red Dragotha is the true one and the black one is an imposter.

Any other thoughts, comments, and the like on the deadly duo of dastardly dracoliches named Dragotha?

Heck add the blue dragon dracolich stats from the Miniatures game (or Draconomican from which it was based) and name him Dragotha, too.

Then all you need is a green and a white dracolich to fill out the collection, name them both Dragotha, and have them serve as a blasphemous covenant to or against Tiamat.

That's not Dragotha! That's not even a little bit Dragotha! That's a black dracolich they threw in there and called Dragotha. I mean, really. This Dragotha-in-name-only ignores all the existing lore of the mightiest of dracoliches.

This annoys me.

it could be like the dread pirate roberts...the title of Dragotha is passed down from dragon to dragon.

rofl

personaly I have never thought that Dragotha should be a dracolich at all... I have always felt that he should be stated as a unique type of undead dragon.... making him a common dracolich is insulting, and somehow diminishes the original undead dragon.

I don't think I'd like to live in a world where there's such a thing as a "common" dracolich...

On the subject of Red vs. Black dragons, I have to share this picture from maxminis:

Well, in a previous thread, Erik Mona mentioned that Dragotha ISN'T a dracolich- he's far too unique to be considered one, but they needed a term for it, so, for lack of a better solution, just called him a Dracolich. (Although, I really don't think there's a "common" dracolich. Honestly.)

(Although, I really don't think there's a "common" dracolich. Honestly.) sure there is that is any dragon that you simply slap the dracolich template on... they may not be encountered frequently but thye are common (as in simply normal for thier kind) dracoliches.
