Might not be exactly what you're looking for . . . but last sunday for a filler quest in the Shackled City Adventure Path, our DM ran us through a Challenge of Champions . . . 4 I think it was (Started with a Griffon statue and ended with a hob-goblin statue).
We successfully completed the first eight tasks with varying ease. The nineth task we failed miserably. The hint we opted for ended up being something we'd already figured out, and we still could not make heads or tails of the puzzle. And due to the fact that we got no points from that last round, we could only get a total of 9 points each on the last round. We finished with a score of 356 . . . to tie the highest scoring npc group in the module.
The DM grabbed a riddle from the Dragon Compendium and when our cleric provided the answer before the DM finished speaking, we were declared the winners.

I put a group through the same one about 8 months ago. They scored in the bottom 3 or 4 I think. The PC's were only 2nd or 3rd level at the time so they had to rely on wits alone. Something they didn't have much of by the looks of it!
I imagine if I put my current group through it they would score a bit higher. The last group had some players that either gave up after 1 failed attempt or just weren't any good at those sorts of puzzles.
