Wereplatypus-where are you?

Off-Topic Discussions

Chris,

The were_cabbages are getting a bit worried about you. No one has heard from you since mid May and you haven't been posting here. You're probably busy with school and work down in Galveston, but your utter and very sudden disappearance from all electronic communication has us a bit worried...just drop us a line and let us know you're okay--post here or over at the were_cabbage site. If we've pissed you off and you've stopped corresponding with us or you've finally joined the Peace Corps, that's cool too-just let us know so we don't continue to worry. It's just like you dropped off the face of the Earth (which you have every right to do, but we do get worried when a friend suddenly stops communicating)

(We were worried about Ashavan too for a while, but he finally dropped us a line a few weeks ago--real world stuff can sometimes suck the bag)

*sniffs* I miss the wereplatypus too...

He's Wissel while he works... maybe he'll come back to play with us soon enough.

Liberty's Edge

I send an eMail to him a couple of days ago, telling him we're worried about him, but until now he hasn't answered...
I hope he's doing fine!

Guys (and gals) he has poison spurs, I'm sure he's fine.

Oh, I didn't know that... ;)

once he boasted he had a hundred monkeys with typewriters as cohorts and another hundred platypus thralls.

Scooby-Doo, where are you?

One ping only.....Chris, are you out there?

"Give me a ping, farewell2kings. One ping only, please." (Hunt for Red October - my favorite movie EVAR!)

I wish the captain would scare the Wereplatypus out of the water. If his last communication with us had been about leaving town, finishing grad school and such I could understand it, but we were in the middle of a ongoing discussion on the were_cabbage Yahoo group about some ongoing projects and he just stopped communicating without any warning. I'm hoping it's just a computer glitch or somesuch.

That book inspired me more than the movie, although the movie was excellent. Right after reading that book some friends of mine and I got into playing "Harpoon" on a regular basis--that took some dedication, let me tell you--very technical and complex wargame.

I'm starting to really get worried. He's a Paizo contributing author and was pretty active on this site and in the were_cabbage e-mail group and then stopped communicating out of the blue in late May. Summer in Galveston is busy, as I was there myself on vacation last year, but Chris just doesn't seem like the type to not send or post anything for almost three months. I hope everything is okay and it's a computer breakdown or internet problem that he hasn't bothered to have fixed, but I'd sure like to hear something from someone letting us know he's okay.

I send an eMail to him again last week, and still no answer...
I hope he's fine and just took some time off...

Hmmm. Texas, right? Are there a lot of silver weapons around there? We miss you Chris.

Scarab Sages

Well, I tried and end-run, but it hasn't been successful yet. I know that Chris has mentioned the 'Chimera's Den' as a gaming shop he frequentes and I tried calling them just to see if he's okay/been in in the last couple of weeks/leave a message. So far all I've gotten is a generic recording, but I'll let y'all know if the status changes.

*ow*
I bumped my toe.

*holds out special wereplatypi treats*
Here Wissel, Wissel, Wissel...

I read the title of this thread, and instantly thought of Scooby Doo....*sing with me* (now that it's stuck in my head)

"Were-plat-y-pus, where are you? We've got some work to do now."

;-p

I guess we'll have to call him Where-Platypus from now on...

(yuk-yuk)

Ultradan

I'm surprised I didn't think of that myself, Ultradan. Dryder found some blogs of Chris' with some entries from mid June that indicated he had been accepted to the University of Houston for graduate school, so let's hope that's the reason for his sudden departure from the world of electronic communication with his internet friends.

That or maybe he suddenly became cool ;)

Happens all the time....

Yeah, and to say it with Calvin's words (from the CALVIN&HOBBES comix): "The world bores you when you're cool!"
;)

Maybe Chris's bored off the internet... ;)

He's a were platypus. You introduce yourself to the 'cool kids' as "Chris Wissel-writer, were platypus," and they say, "whuuh?" You have to say stuff like, "so, you figure Terrell Owens is faking it, or what?" That's this guy who plays this LARP game they watch. He was an eagle who turned into a cowboy. I think he's some kind of druid.

Plus when you get to be 30-40, NOBODY IS COOL ANYMORE.
Anybody still attempting to be cool at 30 to 40, whether or not they ever actually were, is just pitiful. You get more punk points staying the course.

Bumpity....fixin' to give up and just hope we hear from Chris someday. Who knows, maybe when I'm at GenCon next year, he'll suddenly pop in.....

Wow, I'm the coolest man on the planet....I've stayed the course all my life. I was 40 when I was 20....

Heck, I was sixty when I was ten and I still haven't grown up.

*ow* I bumped my toe...

Any word from our favorite lycanthropic monotreme?

Great minds think alike. I was just thinking about Wereplatypus last night, for some reason.

It was after thinking about the Crocodile Hunter's strange and unfortunate demise. I really hope W-p is just in a period of eremitic retreat, and that his absence is not the result of something bad happening to him.

Time for an official bump.

Has anyone heard from Chris Wissel since the start of June 2006? We need to contact him to pay him for "Diplomacy" and "Riding the Rail," and all of our efforts are proving fruitless. If any of the folks on these boards have a way of getting ahold of him, please let him know that his checks are waiting (and frankly, we're a bit worried about him). Thanks!

You can also send those checks to the Were_Cabbage group (of which he is an honorary member until he shows up for one of our meetings, at which point he's officially all the way). Please be sure to make the checks out to "cash".

OK. Seriously, though, maybe Farewell2Kings can put that police expertise of his to work for Paizo. He tracked him down at one point a while back. Maybe he can do it again.

I found the info I think Stefan had on the old Cabbage site and forwarded it to the Gatekeeper. Any chance the Powers that be at Paizo could give us all one ping (one ping only) to let us know our fellow lycanthrope is okay once you get in touch?

Thanks,
GGG

Thanks for that, Matt. I did speak to his fiance' or GF back then on the phone and she said he was very distracted by real life things and such. He did post here after that to thank us for our concern and that was it.

That post has now disappeared???? Very weird, but I clearly remember him posting here in September or October of 2006 to let us know he was okay.

I'm going to respect his privacy and not pursue it further, plus Paizo now has all the info I have, thanks to Matt.
