Concerning D&D items in the magazines

Customer Service

Hey all,
I was curious about something. If I had a technical question about one of the magic item articles in Dragon, who should I ask it to? Dragon is 100% approved by WotC, so does that mean I should ask WotC customer service?

Thanks

I'm fairly certain that you could do one of two things:

1) If its a technical question, you could 'ask the sage' for clarity by writing to Dragon magazine directly.

2) Or ...you could post your question to the boards and let the fans, as well most of the Paizo staff, give it a shot. Generally, if you ask your question and then cite the mag # and article, someone will be able to tell you something.

Personally, I don't believe you would ever need to go to WoTC for a magazine question. However, I have been wrong before.

I may sound like a complete dork, but which messageboard should I direct this to then? There doesn't seem to be a Paizo one that really relates...

If you go to any forum page, look in the upper right hand corner for the "All Messageboards" link. Click there, scroll down to the Dragon Magazine "General Discussion" forum, and post your topic there.

I recently had a question about some material in the Campaign Workbook section of Dungeon magazine. I posted in the general discussion section of the Dungeon forum and got a reply from the author almost immediately.

Look around and you'll find the right place to post. I've tried to post questions on the WotC site and gotten spotty and generally unhelpful replies. I love this forum and have had nothing but good experiences here.

I recommend the Dragon General Discussion board.

See, there ya go! I was going to post the link to the forum I suggested, and who pops in but a member of the staff. These guys are the greatest! (sniff)

And lest my comments be considered derogatory toward WotC in general, that wasn't my point. There are SO many people on that site, and often times posts get lost before you get an adequate answer. It's a worthy forum, but I find this one much more helpful. Keep up the great work, Paizo!

Or something like that. :-)

Just to be clear here, DO NOT send questions about Dragon articles to the Sage Advice email. The Sage ONLY answers questions pertaining to BOOKS put out by Wizards of the Coast. Questions about Wizards of the Coast website content, Dragon and Dungeon content, and content by third-party publishers are deleted. You might get a Dragon or Dungeon content question answered by myself or another staff member, but don't hold your breath.

Yes. Do this.

You are not wrong. As I understand it, Wizards of the Coast customer reps tell people who call in with questions relating to the magazine to contact us.
