Old-school adventures = v.3.5????

3.5/d20/OGL

I'm looking for 1st & 2nd Ed. adventures that are converted to 3.5. Are the one's sold on this site old school or 3.5? (i.e. Queen of the spiders and that whole storyline) I don't want to spend a bunch of money an stuff I already own. I would appreciate the help if someone has any insight on this. Thank you.

Liberty's Edge

Hi,

the downloads (4 bucks) on this site are the original adventures (D&D basic, 1st or 2nd edition).

However, you may find dowloads of 2 old time classics on the WOTC website : "White plume mountain" and "tomb of horrors, as well as free adventures from 1st to 20th level (check "something's cooking" and the "ettin's riddle" that are quite good).

The current-edition Tomb of Horrors was good, although I fear the poor editing and worse balance of first edition has been carried over a little too well. It's fine if you are fully expecting at least one character to be torn limb from limb in the first round of the first combat.

Something's Cooking was amusing, if a little silly in some ways. Ettin's Riddle was pretty good indeed.

Actually, I ran through six characters in about eight rounds, when I was DMing it. It would've been quicker, except that the cleric managed to blind the thing with a Holy Smite (or whatever that spell is) in the first round, and then used Meld into Stone to escape death for one round before charging out (foolishly, he says) when I mentioned that the thing "appeared to be at about half health" -- he hadn't realized that "half health" constituted approximately 100 hit points. So the Warlock escaped due to invisibility and has gone off to recruit new party members.
