Okay it's a small thing, but to me it really makes a huge difference. I remember asking somewhere on the forums (quite a few times probably in different places) that the Dragon guys please try and tie their information into the published settings, y'know the way they did for the Monster Manual III. As I was flipping through issue #344, guess what I found. Something that made me smile. In a box section to the side of the Ecology of Dracoliches were two entries on Dracoliches in Faerun and Dracoliches in Eberron. You guys are awesome. That's why I come here!
I agree, I like the "In (Insert Campaign Name)" paragraphs. It doesn't have to be a whole history or accounting, just an official statement saying "These guys are here in Faerun/Eberron because of blah blah" and that's good enough.
I too will throw my hat into the ring- A little sidebar, a paragraph or three, on what role such beings might play in the other settings goes a long, long way. Even if you decide to throw out the information completely, it gives you a good starting point.
I started seeing these in MM III, and they work. I'd like to see them in more books, actually. It would save them the trouble of doing conversions later.

Unfortunately, neither the FRCS, where 3.0 dracoliches first appeared, nor the Draconomicon states "True" dragons as a requirement, only "evil dragons" which can be construed as meaning anything with the dragon creature type.
Dracoliches in previous editions had to be true dragons because only true dragons were refered to as dragons, and anything else was called a "dragon kin" or the like. With the advent of dragon as a creature type, the imprecise wording has opened this up a bit.
For those that care, in general, in the Forgotten Realms it has been stated that the Cult of the Dragon only creates dracoliches from True Dragons, and the only recorded dracolich that came from anywhere but the Cult was the dracolich that Talos created in the Druidhome trilogy, but hey, he's a god, he can do stuff like that.
Anyway, since the template was imprecisely worded and never errata'd, and since "generic" dracoliches from settings other than the Forgotten Realms don't need to worry about that fact that only the Cult of the Dragon knows how to make dracoliches, I guess that anything goes.
George, where are these dracoliches mentioned, or is this something that hasn't made it into public Realmslore yet?
