I named a new server at work Demogorgon.
Maybe if I get enough of them, I'll be able to name them all after Igglwiv's Demonomicon. :-D
*laughs* The directories for my campus newspaper's files (I was the online editor) were Orcus, Iuz, and Grazzt. It was .. for .. umm... security purposes. Yeah, that's it! :)

That's funny. Our servers are named after obscure Star Trek references, in order to keep the masses from identifying what they are while the geeks have a bit of fun: Galron, Batris, Karemma, Maquis.....the practice started after the administration made the IT people rename //Pinky and //Brain stating that people weren't going to take the computer seriously if they named servers after cartoons.....(give me a break)...our IT people figured that no one at the perennial macho hold out police department was geeky enough to know their obscure Star Trek references and those who did would just smile about it. They were right. We gamer-cop-geeks-trekkies enjoy the references while the vast majority use them with complete ignorance (in more ways than one, trust me)
A server named Demogorgon would kick butt, I must agree.

I'll have to keep this in mind next time we are discussing naming equipment at work. The people here are boring and they decided that my names (Larry, Curly, Moe, Shemp, Heckel and Jeckel) weren't professional enough, so they named them "Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple". How boring is that?

Yawn! That is boring...if you're gonna be working with them all day, you tend to humanize them anyway (like mechanics with cars), why not give them a fun name?
"I'll show you who's boss, Demogorgon!! Keep that up and I'll get Yeenoghu in here!"
