Ok I am starting a new campaign that I am preparing myself. And I think I have decided on the main enemy. "Geryon" deposed lord of the fifth. I'm thinking that he is now schemeing of gaining more power on the material plane. By forming a new church. Possibly posing as something good and holsum but in actuality is involved in some terrible schemes. So if anyone has any adventure ideas for my campaign please give me a message.

Buy the Book of Vile Darkness. I cannot stress that enough. There is SOOOO much fun to be had in that book, especially considering your main plot idea, that you will be drooling!! For example, a Pain Extraction ring operating in the cities underground, sweeping up street children (they are young, resiliant and expendable) for the creation process. Couple of evil clerics to keep 'em healed up and Whammmo! And Liquid Pain can be used for so many nasty things. Not to mention all the Thrall-type PrCs. Trust me, well worth the price of admission, it's one H-E-DoubleHockeySticks of a ride!

AS long as the PCs have access to things in the book of exalted deeds,
BoVD = a great way to have a recurring undeffeatable adversary
ToED = an equalizer for the players should they need them,

I agree, if you use one book, you really should try to use both. At least thats how our group and DMs operate. Besides, it makes the vile evil really contrast with the exalted goodness, neither one of them stands out as much when compared to "mundane" good and evil.

First - Learn how to spell. Its Wholesome, not holsum. And Scheming, not schemeing. OK, preaching over.
As those above said, the Book of Vile Darkness is a must if you are going to use an archdevil (deposed or not). However, I would also suggest that you go to the WotC website and download the BoVD web enhancement, which has a section on Geryon. The web address below should take you there.

If I had one bit of advice I would give, it would be this. Try to involve the players back stories in your adventure. Nothing gets a group more interested than to find out that they are personally involved in what is going on. Perhaps a character whith a wayward family member might find him or her going to this new church, or even encourage it before he finds out what is going on. Maybe the hero's beloved home town has been taken over by this sinister group. Anyhow, I have found that the more PCs find that their personal goals are wraped up with main plot items, to more interested they will be in the overall story arc. Just make sure that when you weave in their stories its in a way that makes sense.
PS. Encourage your players to make as much backstory to their charcters as possible, you should be able to find plents of stuff to use.
Good luck with your game!
