I'm running an epic level Forgotten Realms campaign and it pains me that while feats abound for magical items, and alchemical products exist that can be made with the alchemy skill--that there's no rules that I could find for creating gadget-tech (aside from the Techsmith class, which lets you build one gondsman).

I'd like to see a few feats for different kinds of genres of devices akin to the various kinds of artifacts, perhaps starting with simple levers, through pulley, clockwork, waterpowered, then maybe steam with something like wonderous invention as the catchall (in the same way one gets feats for rings, staves, wands, armor and weapons, etc. as he/she levels)

Hopefully then a list of things that can be built with each feat, and what reqs there'd be to do it. There's quite a few settings where tinkery gnomes or dwarves (or gobbers!) exist and a section like this would be wonderful so GMs don't have to clunk their way along with skills like Craft as their only real mechanic.

I'd certainly buy it.
