tonight my group could make it to the malachite fortress, and they enjoyed the map of jzardirune that Ghelve had immensely.
I believe they will go to the map shop (forget its name). I was wondering what price I should put on an imperfect map of the Malachite fortress.
My initial thought is 150 gp.
I also think if they offer him their updated map of Jzadirune, he'll offer them the map for only 75 gp.
Thoughts on that?
On a tangent, I was thinking of having the were-rat from the Kua-Toan prison cell in Zenith Trajectory be the one who sold him the map. (or maybe the other guy...)
Both are characters who might've made a jaunt through the malachite hold after the dwarves left.

Well, Bolar Westkey (Westkey's Map Emporium) will sell maps of 'most public buildings' for between 2 - 20 gp. IMC, the Malachite Fortress isn't exactly a secret, so I would set it somewhere in the 50gp range. Treasure maps at his shop cost 100gp, after all...
My party loves this guy. I generally have had Bolar purchase maps of decent quality for 10-25gp, depending on what the map depicts.

I think the price is a little steep for low level characters, but since having the map isn't necessary to finish the adventure I don't think it's unreasonable. If they want the map, they'll have to pay for it.
While the Malachite Fortress is not necessarily a secret, it's not exactly common knowledge, either. The fortress is a couple hundred feet below Cauldron and probably the only time people hear about it is when things go wrong. Getting a map would not necessarily be easy. And you can be pretty sure that, as a primarily military installation, the floorplans weren't shared with too many folks.
In my campaign, one of the PCs took the "Child of Jzadirune" trait. When he met the vanishing skulk, after they were nearly complete with Jzadirune, I told him that his character was shaken (per the PHB). That lasted until the group bested Kazmojen -- they hadn't figured out what caused the vanishing. As a benefit, though, I told the character (a dwarf) that he remembered something of the Malachite Fortress from his youth and gave to him a pretty accurate map of the fortress (minus the secret room and the illusory walls -- "I guess they did some remodelling since I left" :-) ).
They did stop in to Westkey's and buy a map. After much visiting and roleplaying, the player whose character is Mayor navalant's nephew, made a great diplomacy roll and got the treasure map at half price, 50 gold pieces.
They did not try to sell their jzadirune map (they still have like 4 rooms left to check.
I also made a point of Westkey remembering the shady looking, stinky fellow with crazy eyes who sold it to him. (Used White-Eye, the fighter were-rat from Zenith Trajectory). They ate that up and all wrote down a note or two.
So thanks for the responses, everything went well.
On a complete tangent, my players keep looking at the faces of cauldron pictures that I have printed and put on my DM screen, and they keep joking about meeting the Beholder. I can't wait until old Orbius drops in on them at the end. The look on their faces will be classic.
