Hey all,
I'm getting ready for my Thursday game night, and I have two questions...
1) In the soul pillar room, how 'deep' is the room below the ledge?
Doesn't the book give a depth for this room? I don't have mine in front of me but I seem to remember the magazine at least having a room depth. I have this recollection because the druid PC was wild shaped into an eagle when he failed his save vs. the paralyzation gaze and fell quite a ways down.
2) Once your players kicked butt and took names, what did they use the Soul Pillars to ask? I'm trying to be pro-active ...
They asked a bunch of stuff about the Cagewrights and the ritual itself...I'll have to check my notes at home but from the pillars they learned that there was a ritual involving some sort of tree with a two faced guardian in a complex under the volcano. I had some good cryptic answers made up for them. They had lots of interpretations about the two faced guardian and yet another underground complex beneath the volcano. I'll try and remember to dig them up and post them later on.

Okay...after my players found the Soul Pillars, they consulted them just enough to discover they were repositories of knowledge. The evilness in the pillars was enough to make them wary of using them any further.
Until after the battle in House Rhiavadi.
Armed with the details of Lady Thifirane's speech, the party's druid and his cleric cohort went to ask the following questions of the Soul Pillars. My answers follow the questions.
1. Where is the Tree of Shackled Souls?
--Deep under Cauldron
2. How does one destroy the Tree?
--You must defeat the guardian with two faces and attack the tree from many places. (referring to Dyr'ryd and the tree's large hardness/hit point total)
3. How do we stop the Ritual of Planar Junction?
--That is unknown to us.
4. Where is the beholder known as Vhalantru?
--Oblivion
5. Is there anyone else who knows how to stop the Ritual of Planar Junction?
--The Cagewrights know.
6. How do we get to the place where the Tree of Shackled Souls is?
--The Fiery Sanctum lies deep below us, through the lava.
They already knew there was a ritual involving the tree and the Shackleborn. They knew Vhalantru was a beholder. The only new things they learned were that the tree was guarded by a two faced guardian in a place beneath Cauldron called the Fiery Sanctum, and that Vhalantru was in Oblivion. Of course, they didn't know that Oblivion was his home or how to get to the FS, or what the two-faced guardian was. After the encounters with Kaurophon and the Temple of Wee Jas, there was a lot of suspicion of everyone around them being a traitor.
Oh, and it doesn't say anywhere that I can find just how deep the room with the pillars and the dracolich is, but it does mention that the room with the pillars and the bone naga is a total of 60 feet deep. I gave it a total height of 80 feet.
Hope this helps you some.
