Hi Everyone! I'm starting up a Greyhawk based AOW game in about 3 weeks and am starting to get some characters and backgrounds handed in. My players have done a good job of steering clear of AOW materials and so have little idea regarding what the adventure is about.
One of my players handed in a character with a great background: a 1st level warlock who is basically a loner who grew up with a witch mother outside of town. Sort of the spooky family regular folks try and avoid. The interesting thing to me: he lists himself as a follower of Vecna. Any suggestions on how to work this in to the game? I'm especially interested in how to use it in The Three Faces of Evil, but it also will be important later on. My first instinct was to ask him to change it, but it might be really cool if used right. Any thoughts?
Well, the orthodox (if you could call them that) Vecna priests really really dislike the Ebon Triad, so it would make for a decent spot of roleplaying during 3FoE. Later, the only "real" Vecna follower the pary will meet has the Hand. What kind of powerful follower of Vecna wouldn't really want the Hand? The only real problem is the evil alignment, as far as I see it. I suggest you let him do it.
