Suggestion for good swamp adventure needed-10th level

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

I'm a bit stressed for time and could use a little suggestion or pointer. I have all Dungeon issues from #83 on and I need an idea for a good swamp adventure for 10th level characters.

My party is getting ready to hit the Vast Swamp south of the County of Sunndi and I want to have something on the back burner in case they turn in an unexpected direction.

Hey, Stefan, what about "The Porphyry House Horror" in #95? That's right at 10th level and you could easily drop Scuttlecove in as a great hidden outlaw town that can serve as a base of operations for whatever you have planned.

Please tell me you're running Tomb of Horrors! If not, then that's another one and now it's been converted to v.3.5. Though it's for 9th-level.

Anyway, that's my suggestion.

Thanks Steve....I can't run Tomb of Horrors because two of the players in my group went through that adventure in 1983 (he he), but I plan on doing something similar using the Suel Lich presented in a recent Dragon magazine. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll go check out Porphyry House tonight.

Jackal's Redemption in #95 is for 9th level. It's a lone wizard's tower you could drop anywhere.

Or search the Dungeon index at Wyrm's Hoard (www.paladinpgm.com/wyrm) and see what else might fit for you.

Don't forget Return to the Tomb of Horrors. You'd have to convert it (though the Tomb of Horrors part has already been done as previously mentioned), but it's perfect for a group that went through the first one 20 years ago. Not the least of which because as part of the adventure you get to go through the original all over again right in the middle--it makes sense when you read the adventure. And it's set in Sunndi and the Vast Swamp.

If you've got other old stuff you don't mind converting there's I2 Tomb of the Lizard King (which I always defaulted into Sunndi and the Vast Swamp) and I7 Baltron's Beacon (which is actually in the Hool Marsh but could easily be carried over). In both cases the big challenge is converting from 1e.

Admittedly, though, I don't recall a whole lot of 3e stuff in swamps--something that may need to be rectified.

If you can find an updated version of the old Expert module, Quagmire, it would probably fit in the swamps easily. There may be a PDF of it somewhere.
