Nature (wilderness, forest or jungle) based race / culture!

Does anyone know if there is a nature-based race with affinty to technology and magic (or artifice altogether) without being a gnome, elf, or human? The culture I am looking is a fantasy version of biotech: living weapons and items, living plants and animals created (or tansmuted) into devices and tools.

None that I can think of - but it sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want. If your the DM then just make one up.

Lords of Madness had the concept of grafts, which was also presented in Magic of Eberron. That might be along the line of what you were looking for.

There's an interesting race created by Monte Cook called Vallorian. It's not quite what your looking for but the weapons and armor the craft (or create)are actually living creatures.

They're on page 112 of Legacy of the Dragons.

They're not really a playable race (at least, not easily), nor are they very nature friendly, but the kythons in BoVD do grow their own weapons and such. They strike me as good candidates for a semi-alien based campaign.
