Rather, why can I only edit certain posts on certain forums?
You can edit recent posts (I think the current time limit is around an hour). This is to prevent people from revising history, and also to help prevent people who read the boards regularly from missing things because they didn't realize something had been added to a post that they had already read. And also to encourage people to think *before* they post.
