Were-baboons

Shackled City Adventure Path

Last week my players and I ran through Flood Season, and they defeated Tongueater, the vicious Werebaboon.

Now I have a problem. Two problems actually. I had intended to add a few were-monkey encounters here and there to spice things up. My second problem is that one of the PCs may have been infected with monkey lycanthropy (I hope).

Unfortunately, the Shackled City hardcover book does not include the Werebaboon template!

Can anybody help a desperate DM?

There's actually no reason for a "werebaboon template" since the 3.5 Monster Manual actually has that covered. Tongueater was built using the "Creating a Lycanthrope" section on pageas 175–178 of that book. When "Flood Season" originally appeared in Dungeon, the 3.5 rules weren't quite out. I had access to the 3.5 version of the lycantrhope though, and used that to design the werebaboon. The rules for doing so were printed in that issue as a sort of preview for the 3.5 version of the lycanthrope. Now that 3.5 is here, there was no need to reprint these pages from the MM.

Just a long shot, but use the wereboar template from MM for tongueeater and the wererat template for any of his minions. my own group did'nt know the difference in attacks as tongueeater lived up to his name and killed off half of the party. One "lucky" survivor wound up mute until healed by Jenya.
there is a chance that it might in an old copy (dungeon#98)
Hope this helps.
Oh feel free to borrow this line from Tongueeater when and if he grabs and tears off the tongue of the party's leader.
"In order to be a leader among prey, it is not enough to be seen waving swords look handsome and play the hero. It is not enough to be loved, hated or even feared. Those things in the end do not matter. No, to be a true leader he must first be heard. You're not a leader."(RIPP!!!)

*slaps forehead* Of course, the Monster Manual. Thank you. I feel like a true simpleton now.

Of course, now I see that Tongueater couldn't have infected a PC, since afflicted lycanthropes can't transfer the curse. And sadly, my party destroyed Tongueater within 3 rounds. Here's a quote from the Paladin: "I Charge, I Smite Evil, I Power Attack."

Thank you so much for your help!
