There a couple of places to do this online, but instead of a PBeM, I would suggest a "group" - Play By Post. (Yahoo Groups comes to mind.) That way, players and DMs can read up on the latest posts without necessarily having to be at home to read their email. Plus, you'll be able to upload files (maps, "handouts") to the group so that everyone can use it.
Treasure Tables ( http://www.treasuretables.org ) has had several good articles recently on how to use the Internet for RPGing. You might want to take a gander at it.
My two copper on the subject. :-D

I am thinking of starting a campaign via eMail.
Does anyone of you have done this before and can give me some advice on how to do this?
Thanx in advance!
Tom
I've been running a few online games for a couple of years now. They can be slow placed and require commitment from the players. If you can weave in occasional Instant Message gaming sessions, all the better.
The internet can be a great medium for gaming. It gives the DM time to think out strategies of various foes to throw at the PCs, design maps and graphics, and so forth. You'll never be caught unaware.
That said, I would suggest a minimal group of players. In one campaign we started out with four players, but by the time everyone got to chime in on one dialogue, a week in real time would nearly pass. Eventually, my group dwindled down to two, which is a nice number. Turn around on posts is much quicker, which helps keep the game moving.
