Writer Guidline Questions

Dragon Magazine General Discussion

I've read the guidelines for submission, and I have two questions.

1) I'm only 14. Am I allowed to submit?

2) Can you submit an idea for Silicon Sorcery or Novel Approach?

Thanks!

Good for you! I'm sure one of the other editors will respond on the Silicon Sorcery/Novel approach question (they're not areas I query for) but with regard to the age... a parent has to sign your Standard Disclosure Form when you submit. That phase varies for each magazine. For Dungeon it is required with the query, for Dragon it's not necessary (in my experience) until you submit the manuscript or outline (ie. after your query has already been given the go-ahead, which is the biggest hurdle).

Go for it and good luck!

Koldoon pretty much covered everything of importance there.

Wes is in charge of Novel Approach and Silicon Sorcery, but he rarely stops by the messageboards. I think, however, that he commissions all NA and SS these days, but that doesn't mean you can't send him your query (wes@paizo.com).

As long as your writing is solid we don't care how old you are. Just make sure to have a parent or guardian co-sign any legal paperwork (the SDF, contracts, etc., etc.).

Thanks!

Oh, and I checked the guidelines again. Apparently we're allowed to submit ideas for a new article coming up called Divine Inspiration. Apparently its like SS and NA, but it can detail books, movies, video games, TV shows, manga etc.
Sounds cool to me! :)
