My players and I are just beginning to plan our first Eberron campaign, and I plan to run the Age of Worms adventure path. I've been peppering them with bits of information about Diamond Lake to try to whet their appetite, and there is some interest.
One of my players is interested in being a human artificer, and she stated in her backstory that she was the daughter of a mining family. I perceive the mining families to seem to be important near the beginning, but their importance peters out as the story moves on. So, I suggested that, rather than being a daughter, she was the younger sister of Luzane Parrin--born shortly before her mother contracted the red plague.
Will this pose any kind of storyline problems? Are there special considerations I should know about? Incidentally, for those curious, the other players are going to be a warforged fighter, a cleric of some sort, and a changling wizard in the care of Allustan.

Not important at all - though you could easily work them in to #1, #2 and #6 without breaking a sweat.
A lot of PCs are presumed to be from a mining family background in the AoW. I would think that would be a very appropriate background for a character set in any campaign world in the AoW.
