Complete Encounter Tables

3.5/d20/OGL

I really liked the d12/d8 system for encounters introduced in 1st edition MMII. Is there something similar for 3.5 that covers all the WotC 3.5 creatures, not just the d20SRD? Fiend Folio, MM II, MMIII, etc?

I need more detailed encounter tables than provided in the DMG and the d12/d8 sytem was a very cool way to handle the rarities of the creatures vs. the terrain, etc. MMII 1st edition had really nice encounter tables that I would like to adapt for 3.5...any ideas or places to look?

I'm betting there is nothing like this out there for 3.5. Especially since they got rid of the frequency heading under the monsters. My suggestion is to simply update the 1st edition version as best you can.

Most of the times, when I need some encounter tables (say, for a journey through the mountains), I usually take out my old 1st edition DM Guide. And use one of the many encounter tables found in there. Ok, it doesn't have everything, but they're still valuable. If there was ever a book that wizards of the coast (or maybe even dungeon magazine (hint, hint)) could come up with would be the Complete Book of Random Encounters, wich would feature a ton of encounter tables, say three for every climat (LOW, MED and HIGH CR) and/or terrain. This would be a must for any DM.

WoC... Hear me!

I have little idea of its quality, and I'm assuming it would have to use SRD creatures, but I believe Necromancer Games' "The Mother of all Encounter Tables" might be up your proverbial street.

Of course, if WotC decides to release any more MMs or other creature suplements, it would be outdated. Somehow, I get the feeling they would do that, although I'd much prefer the encounter table to a MM4.
