Altering product layouts

Website Feedback

I have a suggestion that might make the store better.

On pages where roleplaying books are advertised I think the ISBN and the number of pages the book contains should be listed at the end of the product description.

Like for example, at the end of the description for the D&D 3.5 PHB, the ISBN is listed. Below that it should also list the number of pages and whether or not the book is hardcover (I know that's copying the White Wolf product catalog, but hey it works :-p )

I just find it annoying when I see 'hardcover' listed in the title of something instead of it being in the product description. I also find the spelling and format errors increasing at a staggering rate. I didn't mean that as an insult just as a suggestion.

Unfortunately, we're somewhat limited by the information made available to us from distributors and manufacturers. While we do have a couple of people actively collecting additional product data, their priority has to be acquiring images and descriptions for products that are missing them, not adding detail to products that already have descriptions.

As for format errors increasing, we've made significant changes to the code responsible for formatting descriptions, and I know for a fact there are far fewer formatting problems than there were a month ago. (We still have a nagging problem with stylesheets and bulleted lists, I know.) But we will continue to improve there.

As for spelling errors, we don't generally write the copy (except for our own products). Even the product titles come from distributor lists (complete with the word "Hardcover" at the end), so the vast majority of these errors come from outside sources. We do have people cleaning these up, but with over 20,000 products in the store, it's not going to happen overnight, much as I personally wish it could. :-)
