Yes! The players I am judging Age of Worms for decided to climb up there and see where that tunnel went above the blue lamp last night. Two of our "first generation" players immediately made comments about how "I'm not going near it" and one even refused to follow the party up the chain. The "first generation" players then went on in detail about the face in Tomb of Horrors.
Well, the meta-gaming banter did not stop the less "experienced players," who walked toward the face to investigate it. Then the party's rogue sprang the trap and they learned this face is an entirely different kind of stone face.
A third player, another who has been around since first edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, but did not play Tomb of Horrors, made a gratifying comment after the gaming session. The party had also explored the Architect's Lair and the Lair of the Laborers, as well as experiencing the furious winds of the Stone Face. He said, "Man, that was fun - just like good, old fashioned D&D!" I think that's a tribute to The Whispering Cairn and Erik Mona, and a nostalgic nod to earlier dungeon delves.
Anyway, that was my experience with the players above the Blue lantern's tunnel. Great stuff.
