I subscribe to MHM, and I just wanted to recommend it to other D&D players. I subscribe more as a history buff than as a D&D resource, but it never lets you down.
Last month they had a whole article on the use of Music in War, and how it worked and its actual effects, and would be invaluable as a bard resource.
This month they have an extensive article on Medieval Armor and the way it was used and its relative success rates.
Also, lots of adventure backgrounds, NPCs and cultural traits can be gleaned as well.

I love Military History Magazine...I have several dozen copies that I haven't read yet. Unfortunately I let my subscription lapse to help pay for my renewed D&D habit, which had waned some in the last few years.
I've actually used articles from MHM as inspiration for adventures and mini-campaigns. There was an issue a few years ago about the "real" King Arthur and how he fought the Germanic invaders that drifted into Britain after the Romans pulled out.....

I love using heroes on legend in my campaigns. I came across a second edition campaign about Arthur that I have been meaning to covert to 3.5. I hope to do that soon after my deployment in Iraq is at an end and put my gamers to the test. I'll probably wind up getting a subscription to MHM now that I have heard how successful it has helped in your campaigns.
