Psionic Chameleon Ability...

3.5/d20/OGL

Hello all!

Running into an issue in my group with this Chameleon ability for psions/psychic warriors, as it appears in the Expanded Psionics Guide.

Essentially, the text says that you blend in with your surroundings, therefore gaining +10 to Hide checks. It's the actual description that's causing problems though...what's the VISUAL effect of this ability? Is it like an actual chameleon, where you take on the tones and colors of the things around you? Is it like the "Predator" from the movies, where you warp out of sight, but people can still see you if they're really looking? Or is it something different completely? What are the limits to it?

Thanks for any info you can give me!

Judging by the 'blend in' and 'chameleon' name - I'm gonna have to go with the 'gains the coloration of it's surroundings' effect. It's not a type of invisibility so I'd have to discount the 'predator' effect.

my 2 cents

The text of the power says:

The first part is flavor text. The rules text (and only benefit from this power) is that you gain a +10 enhancement bonus on hide checks.

*nods* I would have gone with either, but your take is totally understandable, and I agree with you...though the Predator wasn't really invisible...if you looked, you could see the effect of his chameleon ability, like a warping of images around him in order to hide him...but it IS a lot more like invisibility than a chameleon...

Thanks!
