Adventure sequence suggestions

Liberty's Edge

Hey all.

A while ago I sent a letter in to Prison Mail. And already I'm getting distracted. Erik just said that it was called that because so much of their mail comes from inside prisons. I always assumed that it was sort of a play on the title. "Dragon - Scale" so "Dungeon - Prison". Well, I always disapproved. It should be "Cellmail" Rhymes, has the same "relationship" to the title. "Dungeon - Cell" makes sense. Dungeon Prison does not. Anyway. Back to topic.

What I'd like to see (and I suggested in this letter) were suggestions for easy "briges" between the various adventures. Obviously with an adventure path this is not required, but text at the end explaining "If you replace the "default organization" with "this organization" this adventure could lead directly to "This Adventure" in "This Dungeon Magazine". Essentially suggest a few minor tweaks to the adventure to make it work with other, pre-existing adventures to create a workable adventure path.

If that doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll try to explain more clearly. Is that possible? Am I alone in wanting to see that as a regular feature?

Thanks.

Frog God Games

That would be a nice feature.

There have been a few set in or having ties to the area of Sterich in GH in the last few years in addition to the Istivin arc ("Headless", "The Harrowing"). So there are some ready-made connections for you. But it would be interesting to see an official spin on such things. At least it could give great ideas to DMs (which, after all, is the purpose of Dungeon).

I have to agree. As a Dm who builds campaigns from multiple published adventures that I see some sort of link in, I can say that I'd be appreciative of anyone that could put together an adventure patch from previously published DUNGEON adventures. I've done a little work along these lines by compiling some of the settings of different adventures. I know that there are a lot of nautical and costal adventures that could probably be linked into an adventure path that could carry PCs through the levels. The only problem is the conversion of 1ed and 2ed adventures into 3.5.

There was a comment by the editor at one time that all the adventures would be up-dated to 3.5. I'm betting there is some computer purging going on to erase all evidence of that comment, but I'm sure I have it in print somewhere.

Id bet that other than nautical/pirate adventures, you could probably build an adventure path by linking adventures with a common foe. Maybe an "Against the Orcs", or "Enter the Underdark" path would be do able. The big problem is searching through all the past issues, identifying treads that can be linked, doing conversions as needed, and then writing up the proposed Adventure Path. At that point the areas that link the adventures could be added, and something like A 1-4 "Scourge of the Slave Lords" can be produced.

Man, would I love to see this done. Man, would I love to have the time to do it. And there in lies the problem.

ASEO out

One of the fairly successful campaigns I ran involved a number of "unrelated" Dungeon adventures that I had worked together. The way I began was by grabbing a piece of graph paper, and drawing a little bit of area. I started with the City of "Dor". Although I'm not going to look through my notes, I started adding things to my map that worked. I also linked in a few published modules and the "free online" adventures from wizards.com. The map made it really easy to place things in relationship to each other, so I could "side-quest" easily because they would run into a published adventure on the path. For example, while going to seek the dwarves (I don't remember which adventure, but they were in a copper mine, and the kobold came to recruit the PCs) they wandered into the adventure with the blind goblin "Spiders Everywhere"... At least when they went back.

A "map" with numbered locations indicating good ways to relate adventures would also be cool.
