Soul Pillars question

Shackled City Adventure Path

I am currently reading the Secret of the Soul Pillars (dungeon #109). In the Ruins of Karan-Kural there is several mentions of how the Cagewrights usually teleport around this room (K4 & K11). Still they used disintegrate to tunnel down to next level, and here comes the question; why didn't they just teleport all the way to the lower level once they scryed it? That would have made it so much harder for other people to reach it?? Am I missing something?

Perhaps they needed to physically get down to the next level before they could scry it (frame of reference).

Perhaps they weren't willing to risk a failed teleport on a scried-only viewing, going there in person in order to study it carefully enough to be reliable.

There's no sure answer, but those are possabilities to consider.

Uh... maybe the writers needed an excuse so the party could get to the second level?

In all seriousness, my players didn't even care that they had disintegrated a hole down to the 2nd level... nor did they care why they did it. So, don't make a big deal about it, and I bet your players won't either.

Thanks guys. I don't think my players will latch on to this, I just like to think ahead :-)
I also considered that maybe i the early Cagewright "invasion" into this dungeon, they brought some lower-level (expendable)flunkies that were sent down to scout ahead. Thus the need for a physical passageway.
It's just nice to spin these things around in your head before running the adventure.
