New Monster Articles

Dungeon Magazine General Discussion

talking with Erik a few weeks back at one of the weekly greyhawk chats he mentioned that he was thinking of moving the new monster articles back to Dragon magazine. I was just wondering if he ever came to a descision on this, ei... are the new monster articles going to stay in dungeon, move back to dragon, or will both magazines be publishing new monster articles in the future?

It looks like the new monster articles are going to be heading over to Dragon. There's just no room for one more type of article in Dungeon alas, and Dragon's been the classic place for the new monsters to go since the start anyway.

We'll still introduce new monsters in Dungeon now and then, but at a slower rate, and they'll be closely tied to one of the adventrues in that issue.

Sigh, that's too bad. I was looking forward to seeing the Creature Catalog articles in Dungeon. I haven't been the biggest fan of Dragon Magazine lately. Not even the format change has made me want to buy it.

I use to love Dragon. Now, it's so hit and miss.

Perhaps "Creature Catalog" will inspire me to purchase more issues of Dragon.

Cheers!

p.s. I can't get enough of Dungeon, however. The new format and articles are excellent.

Thanks for the reply James... Does this have any implications for my "Horrors of Hepmonaland" article which I was told was waiting to be published with no firm date as of yet? Is it not going to be published now? Is it still going to be published but over in Dragon istead? Do I need to resubmit it to dragon? these are but a few of the questions on my mind right now ;-)

Oh Yeah, James, I was also wondering if you could make sure that the new monster article proposal that I emailed to Dungeon on friday could get forwarded to the proper person at Dragon.

All the Dragon and Dungeon editors sit in one big room, and I've been forwarding monster articles over to the other side for a while now. I'll check on the "Horrors of Hepmonaland" article tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure it's still in Erik's stack of monster articles waiting for attention.

And speaking of Dragon: Keep an eye on it for the next few issues, Knightfall. We're not done tinkering with it yet... we haven't quite found where we want to be with it yet. There's some really neat stuff coming in it!

What James said. Dragon is only going to get better. I added the "Creature Catalog" to Dungeon because at the time of the relaunch new monsters weren't going to be a part of Dragon, and I didn't want them to vanish altogether.

Now that I'm running both magazines, it makes sense to keep them where they belong. Besides, we're short on pages in Dungeon as it is!

Horrors of Hepmonaland is very much a living specimen, and will appear shortly.
