If you get a chance to play this game, you should do so. It's quite good, and well deserving of its Spiel des Jahres award.

I would, but I have no clue what Spiel des Jahres means. ;)

It's German for Game of the Year. At least that's what I've heard.

I second Mike's recommendation—and not just because I beat him at it twice. ; ) It's a really fun game.

Jenny

Hmmm... Well, if Mike loses at it, it MUST be fun.... ;)

For the record, Jenny's talking about beating Mike McArtor, not me.

That just makes it all the more fun for gigz. ;)

Mike (the other Mike M. in the company...no...that never gets confusing) is absolutely correct. Spiel des Jahres directly translates as "Game the Year." The "of" is assumed. :) (Yay, three years of high school German pay off...)

I'm takin' my game and I'm going home! ;)

No wait, I already took it home. Should I bring it back so you can beat me a few more times, Jenny? :)

Do you need to bring it in for her to beat you at it? :p

Ticket To Ride is certainly the best family game of 2004, and ranks right up there with Carcassonne, Catan and Royal Turf in terms of light-to-middleweight game suitable for everyone.

I had seen a fan-built expansion for this game based on Belgium. There's also a rumor of a French site that has a version of the game based on a map of Paris. And, it looks like they've finally committed to getting T2R online. That's a definite bonus if you get it automatically by purchasing the board game.
