Love it! Thanks for selecting the little devil to be the monster. Her obsessive collecting is likely to only get worse.
Just came here to make sure Perram saw this. That is all.
Try "some pdf" you can use it to extract images from pdf's and it does it in layers so you can get just the map with no markings. Pretty easy and free. I use it for my home S.S. game all the time. Also useful for npc cards, visual aids, handouts. etc...
Maglok wrote: What do you all use for grid? I made a quick fortress setup with my dungeon pieces (not dwarvenforge) that I'll try to post later. It's the fortress island with the chimeras from City of Seven Spears. If we are on no gridded terrain we use square dowel rods cut to PC specific movement and paint every other inch black. We use longer sticks for range, line of sight, elevation, and to spit in the eye of Pathagrous.
If you are interested in other gridless options search youtube for DM's Craft with DM Scotty. He has good options and advice on giving up the grid.
I still use wet erase and game paper a lot as well as published maps wit grids, but if I make stuff it is great to ignore it.
Pirate, The vault looks great!!!!
Syntax, that Ziggurat is inspiring! If you work with a lot of cardboard do a youtube search for DM Scotty, he has great ideas too.
Here are the Caves of the Mother I have been working on.....

If you are willing to do a little minor work.
Check out Modest Magic .com. This guy lazer cuts high density foam on the cheep! Wall pieces for dungeons and buildings that snap together. slap on a base coat and a dry brush and BAM, table full of terrain. He has more than wall pieces and he does custom stuff too. I haven't ordered anything yet but I plan on it. I will post a review when I do. Definitely check this out if you have worked with foam before and want a cheep, quick way to put a ton of precision terrain on your table.
martryn wrote: I am such a bad DM. No,man. You are not a bad DM (clears throat),GM. I have never played in your game but I have read your posts. You are invested in your game and your players. You prep as well as come here seeking inspiration and in other Serpent's skull threads look at what other GM's have done to avoid pitfalls and improve your game and your players experience. Lots of GM's don't bother.
Pirate,
you should check this guy out. http://modestmagic.com/
sorry, I'm to thick for the linky link.anyway, the guy pre-cuts foam in ready to go fit together and paint pieces. for pretty cheep. he does custom work too. I think you would dig it, check it out.
Thanks Pirate,
I think I am going to try your method when I start preping the Vaults of Madness. Can't wait to see your stuff!
Howdy. Pirate as well as folks I have followed on youtube for a while have inspired me to share some of my Serpent's Skull prep. Here is my most recent. Check out the channel for an older build of the wreck of the Jenever and more to come. video 1
Dude. Thank. You. THANK YOU!!!!!!
I'm in there someplace. To many black shirts. :)
Pirate,
All your stuff is awesome, but I think your goblin is better than the official Paizo goblin plushy.
Any chance some RPG Superstar top 32ers items will see some love in UE?
Holy COW!!!!! Dude, please stop making me hate MY serpents skull campaign.
amazing stuff man. please keep it up.
Whimsy wrote: It would be nice if they would sell AP kits with map, NPC/monster minis, as well as NPC portraits. +1
I know this has come up in other product discussion and that many things make it impractical, but.......Please....pretty please? It would be so nice. What if you held a future AP back until complete so there is time for product support items then release all at once. Could be bundled or purchased separately.
I know that if an AP I was interested in came out and already had all 6 volumes, maps, minis, item cards, npc portraits, etc and I could get it all in just one click, I would jump on it. The amount of prep time it would save me would be worth the cost. Not to mention escaping the disappointment of seeing awesome product support be released for a product I was DONE with months ago.
really? I expected you guys to be more fun then this. ;)
Looking to make a scavenger hunt for me and my group for some friendly competition at gen-con 2012. things like....
Clinton Boomer's signature.
Pic of iconic dressed cos-player holding one of your condition cards.
Get Ryan Costello, Jr to record your outgoing voice mail.
etc, etc
just looking for some ideas. Having never been to gen-con (despite 20 years of trying) I'm sure there are lots of things that would never occur to me.
Sorry if this should be in a different board.
Morbus, Thanks for doing this, looks great!
Too awesome! My prep for this AP pales in comparison. Any chance you would sell these when done with SfSS? Like your GM swagger! You got to dig it to dig it; you dig? Thank you so much for posting these, keep it coming.
Dan Luckett wrote: I'll have to message the Kern on Facebook to see if he can get me some photos.
Maybe I'll see about making a website, get permission from map artists, and compile the art together for reference.
That would be cool!
Doug Miles wrote: Nope, I've never done Flickr or other media sharing. Believe me, my maps won't live up to the hype here ;-) :(
James Olchak wrote: EDIT FROM THE JUDGES: Please read this information about playtesting these encounters. We've also added hyperlinks from the encounter's short stat blocks to the full stat blocks in the PRD so you have the information you need to run the encounter.

sorry for cruddy shorthand. using my phone to log results while play testing. "**#* it, we are doing it live!"
5 PC's
Elf/rog/4
Dwarf/rog/4
Human/cle/4
Dwarf/mon/4
Elf/ran/4
7 out of 10 on easy of play. Unclear what levels for each tier.
The challenge was good and appropriate. Spider nice and tricky. liked the altered tindertwig.
9 out of 10 on fun. well designed and good flow.
Well now I am super curious. Doug, is there a place one could view your maps?
Kettlebriar wrote: Macharius wrote: Fantastic! Just wish it'd come out with #1 instead of #6, but I'm guessing it has to wait til the artwork for 6 is finished before. Yup, releasing them six months after the fact has to effect the sales of that product. So maybe they could come out with 6 sets OR, better yet, release each one WITH the adventure module. Each Adventure Path module comes with its own card stock mini's at the time of release. Yeah, now that's the ticket!
(D&D 1984 Kidnapping of Princess Arelina: that module came with cardstock mini's.)
Now THAT would be worth a subscription. LOL
What do you guys think? I would utilize that, but not everyone rocks the paper minis. I don't think Piazo would want to go through the trouble to include something with the AP that most people wont use.
I totally agree with the time frame though. If Paizo could get these and/or the paper mini line on track with the AP volumes they could move a LOT more.
also, smurf

More bases or extra bases sold separately please!
Love the 3x3x3 idea and am totally going to use that.
I strongly second CorvusRed's suggestion of hero points. This is what I do for PC background, PC pics, RP, and misc rewards. Players love them, want them, and use them to great effect. And it prevents any disparity between PC's EXP wise.

Awesome!! and I thought the table we are working on is cool, but yours sir, is a cake taker. Also, love the pulp fiction poster. Thanks for sharing. What did the table build run you? do you have plans?
Lets see it!
Looking for ideas. If you have any pics of your lair please link.

Slot 6 (1900-2400): Gen Con Special, Part 1
Mr. Thacker, I would love to play in one of your games! This will be my groups 1st gencon (I have tried to talk them into it for years) and I'm not sure how event tickets work for GM specific slots. Is that possible or is it luck of the GM draw? As an aside, I would love to see some pics of your new gaming room I have heard so much about on KD.

It's "broken" to me because it's not fun for me to play at that level. This is the only definition of 'broken' I really heed. LoL
Fair enough, but it's too subjective a criteria to use in this type of discussion.
Its subjective from the start, after all theres a thread up right now with a group planning 90th level characters. No, Seriously. oh link please! this i must see.
My ranger makes the melee party members feel like chumps! He BY FAR has the highest DPR and it is just a basic build following the archery tree.
@ shikutz
love this discussion topic! this is an area of the game that needs exploration, clarification and/or tightening.
Consider starting a new thread in general discussion on high level play. may yield more traffic/feedback.
ninjaed!!!! by the dude I'm talking about/defending no less.
@everyone. Thank you all for your responses, man I love this community. Back in the day we would have just devolved into 3 days of arguing and no community to turn to. ya interwebs!
@ Mabven the OP healer. In this player's defense, he brought this up because he thought it was broken, not to use with one of his PC's. Sometimes when we end up with game down time due to an absent player etc we build crazy character concepts at 20th level and run them against mixed pairs of high cr monsters just to sort of test out the mechanics of combat at that high a level. It was during one of these "experimental" sessions that this question arose. This player is very conscious of game play and balance. munchkins don't stay at our table, we either "retrain" them or bounce them.
Cheapy wrote: The stat bonuses you get are due to the increased size, not a separate thing. yes. but what about the size category it's self? Can you go Huge, regardless of stat bonuses.
What about size itself. Basically, can you get to the *huge* size category if using both spells? Again, I think not but want to be fair.
So glad all 6 are out. I have only bought and constructed the 1st set so far but fully plan on doing all 6. Best art I have seen in the paper mini line as well as the fastest turn around. Great work Todd!
I don't think so because... (PRD Divine Vessel- These modifiers replace the normal modifiers for increasing your size.)
Seems like that would mean modifiers from enlarge person as well.
But I have a player who insists they stack and Hero Lab does allow the stack. (I know that Hero Lab can not always be trusted, but that is another debate)
People seemed hung up on one point for some reason, hope this helps.
Variation
var·i·a·tion, noun, \ˌver-ē-ˈā-shən\
a : the act or process of varying : the state or fact of being varied
b : an instance of varying
c : the extent to which or the range in which a thing varies
Merriam-Webster
It's not a new mechanic.
It's not a reality/space-time altering spell or ritual.
It is spin. We see it everyday on the news. However, I bet this organization has more tools for spin at their disposal than say Fox.

I'm really tempted, to be sure, but I've got plenty of reasons I haven't yet. I'm thinking about doing it now though because it's kind of sucks for the community when I'm not well for a while and the app gets so far behind.
Kyle, get well. The community can cope. Especially given how awesome Combat Manager already is. Thanks again for all your work! I must admit with great quilt that I have not yet donated. But rest assured it is coming. My group as a whole will be donating soon. (as soon as we cash in the pile of change. we "donate" you a quarter every time a nat1 or nat20 is rolled at the table. The hoard grows!) If you will be at gencon2012 I will gladly buy you a cheese burger.
Bump! really? No one that got through this AP has a suggestion or example? (snark not intended)
