For the party I am DMing the party earned 2 trust points on the first night that they were in town. They visited the Laughing Demon and while there, the party's halfling bard jumped on a table and sang for the crowd. I had the crowd act wary at first, and had the bard take two checks. First I gave him a diplomacy check vs. 15 (he got a 16) to get the crowd at least somewhat paying attention, and then he rolled a natural 20 on his perform check. All the while, the party was buying rounds for the tavern. I was planning on awarding him 1 trust point if he passed both checks at DC 15, but since he got that natural 20 I doubled it (plus he sang like 4 verses that he made up on the spot which were hilarious).
Now after reading the comment James Jacobs put on another post about miscalculating the trust points. I would have gone with 3 trust points (2 for the performance and another 1 for the free drinks) regardless of the natural 20 on the perform. Plus I like to give xp rewards for exceptional RPing.
Of course, I wouldn't allow the party to get any more Trust Points for doing this again.
Hey,
I haven't ordered one of the pathfinder products directly from paizo in a while, as a local gaming store (thankfully) started stocking a lot of it.
But I just ordered the first installment of the Serpent's Skull AP, thinking I would be able to download the pdf for free as well.
Do you not do this anymore? Or was that only a perk of being a part of the PFAP subscription. I don't want to cancel my order, by any means, just wondering if the pdf won't happen or if there is some protocol I need to go through.
Thanks!

If something is invisible can you still detect one of it's auras (e.g. Magical, moral/ethical, etc.)?
I know the incubation period of the mummy rot disease from the Black Mummy in Jorgenfist is 1 minute.
Does a PC who fails his next save (after the first minute) take a save every minute after that or every day after that?
I like the journal. Not my favorite part of the AP books, but they can be very useful as a tool. They've given me lot's of ideas for small talk for NPC's, attitudes, information for the PC's, side quests, and a living feeling for the world in general.

Ha!
It was an exciting an epic battle with my group as well, lasting 4 and half hours.
The Dragon was taken out of the picture rather quickly near the beginning of the combat. The PCs had arrived back at sandpoint after intercepting the stone giants that the party druid spotted on the tors in the morning. And were on their way to investigate more traces of them on the tors themselves when they heard resounding cracks and a change in the Bell tolls of the cathedral indicating a shift from emergency prep to UNDER ATTACK!
Riding hard/Flying they emerged back on the scene where the sorceror made his way directly across to where they heard the destruction and taunting of the giants and their bears, while the rest of the party (druid, favored soul/rogue, wizard, Barbarian <The Fated Five> had made their way to the festival ground before the church as the dragon was just making its first sweep. They hid in the alley and watched the dragon land and breath on the garrison, then the mage magic missiled Longtooth, who took back to the air snarling about eating the 'little manlings'
Mano, the Islander <think polynesian> Barbarian took to readying an attack for a fly by and the hit for some damage as it flew out past, snapping its jaws at him and then our past the north walls. Then, the Druid called a lightning storm on it, which enraged it as it roared back in, this time coming for the druid. However, the barbarian, Mano, had readied an action to attack (and jump to attack if need be) if Longtooth flew back in, passing the check with flying colors he critted with the Large Scythe doing a massive amount of damage (92, I believe), opening a viscious slash from near his throat down to the groin. Then the wizard (who I allowed a Arcana check earlier which he got above a 30 on) understood the vulnerabilities of the red dragon, jumped from the shadow of the alley to blast the dragon with frost, with a cone of cold, encasing him in a coffin of ice.
Go team!
Hold person states that it affects humanoids, but what about giants (they are described as humanoid shaped) or humanoid shaped fey?
Do multiple castings of ray of enfeeblement on an opponent stack?
Thanks

Alright,
Does the str (and con) gain from a barbarian's rage, stack with items like a belt of giant str +4, and/or spells like bull's strength (bear's endurance)
And also, do the item's stack with the spells (e.g. bull's strength stacking with a belt of giant strength + 4)
Thanks!

Also, I love the goblin song, but I think it's too much writing for a t-shirt. Kind of like those church group t-shirts, with motivational messages on them. And who wants to be compared with that?
To go with the trends these days and to make for a more lasting shirt, I'd say the design for the golem is the best bet, the other graphics (the gobs and the fighter) will fade too easily and the richness of color always feels heavy on the chest.
I'd say more abstract (e.g. the golem)or black & white graphics are the way to go.
Also, It'd be nice if the golem was situated more laterally to wrap around the sides. OR OR OR make it smaller and be exclusively a side print.
Things like this can make for excellent AND classy t-shirts, that your non-DnD playing significant others will actually think look good on you.
Also, if I come off as elitist it's only because I'm in graduate school for design (albeit architecture, but design is design)
Just some things to consider from your friendly design consultant, and maybe I can photoshop up some examples, if I get a moment.
My party has soft-spoken, sickly cohort that is a favored soul of Pharasma, and has prophetic sendings from the Goddess of Fate.
It started out as a small time NPC that sought them out with warnings, after a fevered sending; but the party sorceror just got leadership and convinced the prophet to tag along. But it could just as easily be a one time (as I originally planned) or even recurring encounter, that unsettles the PCs.
Maybe not, but it was a spur of the moment decision, when the party realized they were silenced. I decided that if countersong worked against audial magic, than it could attempt to pierce the silence spell.
The Non-Dramatic Sweep.
The Player's in my party: 6th Lvl (Wizard, Barbarian, Sorceror, Favored Soul\Rogue) and their Bard Cohort, swept Xanesha, promptly. The Barbarian initially got thrashed by the invisible lamia matriarch, but came back with rage/heroism/bull's strength to deliver significant hits with his falchion. The wizard and the sorceror let loose scorching rays (one ray crit'ed) through the silence with the bard's countersong.
So after a round a half she was down to 38 hp, she flew out for the flying advantage. But fell soon after with a magic missile from the mage and another scorching ray from the sorceror.
At which point she promptly fell down the rubble strewn base where a crowd of dirty shadows dwellers, emerged to gawk in silence and cheer on the heroes when they emerged victorious and announced by their over excited bard follower.
Can the Resiliency talent be activated if brought directly from a conscious state to -10 HP?
e.g. a hit for 14 damage that brings the character from 2 to
-12 HP.
Alright, thanks a lot!
This is exactly what I was looking for!
Alright,
I've always been a bit confused as to how to correctly adapt character class levels to monsters. This is largely due to the fact that I love creating memorable NPC's for my groups to work/affiliate with or go up against.
So, I was wondering if someone could help clarify some issues I have with RoTR 4. For instance, most of the stone giants CR's reflect the stone giant CR + their respective class levels, except for Conna, who has 6 levels of sorceror and is CR 12.
Second: the Harpy monks. They have 6 levels of Monk and CR 7, whereasthe Harpy Fighters in the MM have 7 class levels and CR 11 (original harpy 4 CR + 7 class levels)
Just want to know if these Challenge Ratings (for Conna and the Harpy Monks) reflect some mechanic that I am missing, or the author just feels that their challenge ratings need to be adjusted due to circumstances.
That's all!
Thanks,
Wylie
Hey everyone,
As a dungeon master I am usually a pretty intense adventure crafter but as Graduate Architecture school is taking a blunt object to my face right now, I'm shafted on time to do such.
I love leaving things open and giving my PCs more breathing room and flexibility and I was wondering if anyone had posted anywhere, ideas and stats for more involved encounters and subquests.
I know that some of the RotR books have some ideas for subquests for the groups, but I'm looking for much more fleshed out things, if that is possible.
Thanks!
Hey! Is there somewhere I can get info on the days of the weeks and a calender for the Pathfinder setting?
Thanks!
What would you all suggest I do with my PCs if I am only running the AP with 3 of them. Start at Level 2? Carve down the encounters? Give my players some extra perks?
What are your suggestions?
As of now, they haven't decided their classes or races, but they know to balance things out.
Actually,
Since 'Old Light' is said to be the ruins of one of Alzanist's artillery towers, and there are these catacombs of wrath underneath Sandpoint. I just figured that the catacombs of wrath were an underground extension of the tower ruins. A layer built underground. The description of the tower states that the base is built out from the side of the cliffs. It seems silly that Alzanist would have two separate areas in the same close proximity that were not associated.
So I'm awaiting my first dungeon magazine, which I just recently subscribed to. It says on my account it shipped out on March 20th, so I was wondering if anyone could ease my anxiety and tell me how long it usually takes to ship. Thanks!
