Thanks for posting this. I could use some advise though. Story wise, I had decided to add this as part of a longer story arc where the cult of Gyronna in book 2 was actually a cult of Jezelda intent on spreading Lycanthropy throughout the stolen lands. It would give me something I could add in here and there to spice up the story a bit and show that other forces than Brevoy and Pitax have interest in the area.

Long story short, they went into the temple after doing research on clues I gave including reference to Ashava. The original mission was to help an NPC friend of the group who had been bitten by a werewolf and gotten sick. They agreed to help him, up to and including accepting the affliction themselves to assist in the ceremony. This was my first shock. Several of my players tend to roleplay as loners which firts their backstories but they often scoff at helping others without benefit due to their more "neutral" tendencies. Hoping for the best, I let the NPC's really hammer home the negatives of choosing to master the affliction. I added some fluff to make it really sound more awful than normal including personal stories from the NPC's about how negatively its affected them, how theyre shunned, etc...

Of course you see where this is going. The ENTIRE party (6 players) with the exception of a NG cleric of Gorum decided to master the affliction and come back with it. I had expected 1 or two to be tempted but as I had not given the players any explanation of what exactly they would be gaining by keeping it I thought it was a long shot. The NPC's were also surprised, especially when one of the players who had paid lip service to a deity previously, offered to embrace Ashava with fervor!

I have some ideas how to handle this including ramping up my ideas of them having additional conflicts with the cult of Jezelda, but are there any deities or factions out there in the world who especially despise lycanthropes? I couldnt think of one or find one in my initial research. Any suggestions would be appreciated. As an FYI, their plan for now is to keep this under wraps in terms of letting anyone know they have it. So far they've only used it in situations that they dont care if there are witnesses...because they dont plan on leaving any.

Thanks for the responses. Honestly, I've played with most of these guys for several years and they've always been a very roleplaying heavy group. I guess it was just shocking that so many of them are choosing backstories to spurn the Gods :) Perhaps even that can play into their kingdom. IE crops failing or natural disasters, etc...I dont wanna over do it though and make them resent it.

Sorry. By athiest I mean more so that their response was...Hey I'm a fighter, I dont need the Gods and they chose to work that into their backstory. What I'm thinking I might do is have them come from a family of devout followers of one of the deities I was looking to expand on, and have NPC's come up with quests or whatnot to try to pull them back into the church. I'll think about it. Still got a few weeks to go until we start and who knows how long until they actually get to building the kingdom. Maybe as you suggested they'll find their Gods on the way there.

As a side note, some of the Ideas I had in mind were to bring in some of the side quests for the Owlcat RPG game that came out a few months back. Harrims story in paticular is of interest. I was hoping to use a PC to fill in for his role in those stories...and perhaps I still could. I'll talk to my players to see if any would at least be willing to say..."Hey, I used to follow Torag but XYZ happend so screw the Gods" That will allow them to keep their backstory but give me some hooks for future content.

I'm starting my own campaign of Kingmaker after the holidays and had a sit down with my players last week to go over character creation and to give out a bit of info on the adventure path. My players thankfully worked together on creation and came up with a pretty rounded group covering all the bases and doubling up on a few critical ones.

My concern though is that 3 of the 6 players are choosing to be athiest and incorporating that heavily into their backstories. A 4th had chosen to only pay lip service to a diety, and that mostly because of a requirement of a prestige class he wants to dip into later. Only my cleric and druid have characters interested in the Gods, and neither of them chose one of the core dieties of the area. I dont wanna force the others into religious characters but feel they may miss out on a bunch of the fun I planned regarding Gorum, Torag and Erastil.

As a very green GM, not really sure how I should handle it.

I've searched the forums and the book itself but for the life of me cannot find where the tunnel leading off the northern side of the map leads to. Its not explained, but I'm assuming its a dead end? If anyone can point out what I must be overlooking, would be much appreciated.
