Search for http://paizo.com/search?q=Vargouille&what=prd The top two results are the same monster, but in the old and new locations /prd/monsters/vargouille.html and /prd/bestiary/vargouille.html, respectively. I suspect this is because the old /monsters folder is still lying so its content gets indexed? A couple of the other old folders are still there as well. ![]()

Pro tip, all in a friendly spirit: There's nothing like a few kind words and a few bucks to keep a developer committed to that app you find useful. If you're happy with your three free android apps, good for you. But even better, give the devs some praise and don't take their effort for granted. ![]() I just wanted to tell the community that the iOS Pathfinder reference app previously known as PFR has been renamed to RPG Books, and is now free! Included in the free download is the Pathfinder Core rulebook and the first Bestiary. This means that running a vanilla game of Pathfinder from you iPhone or iPad is no longer just fast and easy, it is also free. Free as in beer! In addition, the app offers in-app purchase of all books available on from the Paizo PRD site. Also, with this latest release, the d20 v3.5 rules and a handful of supplementary books for that system is also available within the app. Do you own an iOS thingy? Give RPG Books a try, it’ll cost you nothing and there are no ads. As has always been the case during the six year life of this app, I’m very happy to receive any kind of praise, critique or feature requests. Adventures ahoy! ![]()

![]() Tybalds Hallow What used to be a sleepy outpost of civilization, mostly getting by on barley, potatoes and sardines, have recently turned in to a busy commercial hub after a substantial silver ore was discovered in the hills just west of the mountains. Merchants, burglars, pimps and other middlemen are establishing shop in the small town, and the local sheriff Brigolda Twotooth is having a hard time keeping order. Added to this, is the discovery of a strange phenomenon dubbed as the Earth Vortex, a slow churning maelstorm of earth and rocks grinding away at the lands in the north-west. A newly arrived adventuring party was sent up there to explore it, but have not been heard from. As if this was not enough, the mill up by Beaver Falls was attacked two nights ago. The millers two daughters managed to escape, but the miller himself, good ole’ Markus, was killed in the hubbub. The attackers tried to burn the place down, but the building was saved by it’s old, sodden planks and a drizzle of rain. Who would want to do such a thing? And why? Then there’s those new shipwrights Will and Son, ordering all that lumber. And the overly curious and handsome bard calling himself Han Xum. Is he trustworthy? And what of those extremely large hoof prints observed twice up in the crossroads? Yes Brigolda Twotooth certainly has her hands full these days! Grab the Tybalds Hallow map over here :) ![]()

![]() I’ve played all versions of D&D. Even did 30 sessions of 4e, but eventually threw it away in frustration that it did not make our games more fun. Been playing Pathfinder ever since, which is good, but high level combat is sooo slow I find it almost unbearable. I’ve now read thru the free 5e rules and I think they seem like an old-school-ification of 3.5e. Which suits me fine. Will give the game a spin first chance I get. Hardest part will be convincing me rpg-conservative friends to try this new green eggs and ham stuff :) ![]()
![]() Marco Polaris wrote: Gem of Starry Fangs My thoughts: Right of the bat: I really like this item. There are several issues, but I smile when I imagine a combat where this item is seeing action. Win!
A couple of issues: It's not entirely clear to me if the summoner must wait for ten minutes (or chop off the tongue) in order to deactivate the item. Who gets to decide which targets the maw will go for? The maw cant be destroyed, but can the gem be broken in order to free a not-yet-devoured prisoner? How much space (area) does the deployed maw take up? The name does not do the item 100% justice, it deserves something that makes you go "riiiight, this item I want..". Also, not sure if it should be a gem? Maybe the flesh-to-stoned head of a lamprey? Maw-maw! Named after the sound of someone being swallowed :) Anyway, thanks for submitting this, I really dig the idea! Polish it use it. I probably will! ![]()

![]() Feros wrote: Torc of Ammple Remedy Not a bad item that enhances a cleric's ability to cast the various cure spells spontaneously to cure various conditions as well as heal hit points. But the only impressive effect is Empower, which means this is just a good magic item to have, not something that impresses people with cool imagery. Also, why does it need 24 hours to activate? That doesn’t fit the nature of the powers involved. Thanks for the kind and insightful feedback, Feros! The item does not enhance a clerics ability to cast healing spells. The item only affects incoming magic (from spells, wands, scrolls, potions etc) on the wearer. Letting the wearer convert, say the Cure Serious Wounds spell to Remove Paralysis. Same thing goes for empower, only spells on self are empowered, not spells cast by the wearer on others. I figured a 24 hour limit would be good, else this becomes an item that is passed around to every member of a party, so they each can get the empowered benefit from healing (cleric spells cast, potions quaffed) after combat. I feel that the "let me borrow your ring for just a second"-items often help degenerate an otherwise good story into pile of technicalities. I absolutely agree that this item is missing the impressive imagery. Will definitely work on that aspect for my 2015 submission! ![]()
![]() This is my submission for the RPG Superstar 2014. I participated for the first time in 2013 with an item that stank :) I had slightly higher expectations this year, but feel I am still not quite there. Any feedback which may help me improve would be greatly appreciated! Torc of Ample Remedy
Ancient curative runes are engraved along the arc of this golden torc, and a yellow gem adorns each end. Whenever targeted by a spell of the conjuration (healing) school, the wearer may instead choose to be affected by another spell of the same school. Choosing a spell is not an action, but requires the wearer to be concious. The chosen spell must be of equal or lower level than the original spell. E.g. upon drinking a Potion of Cure Moderate Wounds the wearer may instead choose to be affected by Remove Paralysis. Also, all conjuration (healing) spells that target the wearer are empowered as though using the Empower Spell feat. This only applies to the wearer of the torc, even if the spell also affects other creatures. The Torc of Ample Remedy must be worn for 24 hours before its powers manifest. Construction

My original thought was that the sludge has been there for a long time. Perhaps installed/created by an alchemist who was funded by a local lord to produce explosives, but said lord would not allow such experimentation to take place in proximity of his land and keep? I did in fact put some players of mine through this dungeon a couple of weeks ago. They encountered the place when an unmanned wagon came rolling down a slanting field towards them. Under a tarp on the wagon were four barrels of each of the two sludges. The wagon was trivial to dodge, but the explosion, when the wagon smashed into the rocks where our heroes where camping out, was both significant and unexpected. Naturally, they had to find out who attempted to murder them, and followed the tracks back to the caverns :-) ![]()
![]() If so, grab this map I just created, and the small adventure intro if you're also a module short! The Dread Temple Caverns Originally constructed by the dwarven outcast Banz Schteinkopf half a century ago, these caverns have seen a lot of different residents since. A couple of years ago some goblinoids moved in. One evening, when they woke up, a large snake with a gorgeous female head was staring at them. She bade them kneel, and they did. In fact so overwhelming was Her charm that they did all She asked, and fought each other in order to please Her when orders where absent. She ordered them kidnap travellers, and the prisoners flesh made Her satisfied and sleepy. But the blood of the prisoners was bottled and corked... Now, years later, She has charmed a priest into service. Together, they await the oncoming constellation when the serpent is high and the waning moon is low on the sky. Then all the bottles, vintage and fresh alike, will be decantered just so onto the altar, and the Dutchess of Serpents will appear, and lo, all the guile and poison and violence of snakes shall be imparted upon them. Yes, the time draws near. As luck would have it, a band of adventurers stumble upon these caverns. Will they be in time to stop the sanguine ritual? Or will they succumb to Her charms, and fill Her belly and Her bottles, like so many before them? This map has also been posted over at the Cartographers Guild. ![]()

![]() Thanks Quandary and Exocrats for the insight! I agree I should face my destiny and just dump the strength. Magician would be perfect, but it's a bit tough to loose the party buff (to hit & damage wise) granted by inspire courage, no? It's one of the main features of a PC bard, as I see it.. The Eldritch Heritage feat sounds very nice! But can this really be taken by a sorcerer, thus getting benefits from several bloodlines? Also, I agree that Extra Performance is only necessary at low levels and that Lingering Spell can be useful on higer levels. The bloodline which lets undead be targeted by enchantment spells sounds like a very good plan! Are there several who do this? Guess I'll have to really dig into the bloodline stuff from all the books now 8-) ![]()
