thinking of this ability.. it's totaly useless against some1 who decide to pick something he doesn't really want to do and wilingly fail his save.

(as in, once he knows about the cleric ability and see it's effect, he can "train" himself to use the randomness of action to his benefit. something like adjusting one self to unfamilier phisical effects such as 0 gravity training etc. "you need to forget what you want to do and start with something you dont want...")

To quote the section on failing saves:

Quote:

Voluntarily Giving up a Saving Throw: A creature can

voluntarily forego a saving throw and willingly accept a
spell’s result. Even a character with a special resistance to
magic can suppress this quality.

You can only give up a save voluntarily on a spell. The aura of chaos is a supernatural ability, and not a spell. As such, you can't voluntarily forego a save on Aura of Chaos. You could say that's against RAI, but then I'd argue that intentionally failing a save goes against RAI for the aura of chaos.

From the ability description:

Aura of Chaos (Su): At 8th level, you can surround yourself with a field wild energies. These energies manifest as a 30-foot aura of chaos for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. All enemies within this aura must declare one type of action at the start of their turn (attack, cast a spell, move, use an item, or activate a special ability) and make a Will save. Creatures that fail the Will save must take an action other than their declared action. If they succeed, they must take the declared action. Creatures cannot select actions that they cannot perform.

Nowhere in here does it actually say what the DC should be for this will save. Typically, these 8th level domain abilities are calculated with 10 + 1/2 Cleric Level + Wis modifier. But it's also occasionally calculated as 10 + 1/2 Cleric Level + 1/2 Wisdom Modifier.

So, any ideas?

I was just wondering how Persistent Spell interacts with things like Battle Cry that allow you to reroll a failed save.

My assumption is that because PS says "Whenever a creature targeted by a persistent spell or within its area succeeds on its saving throw against the spell [...]" that means that they'll have to reroll their reroll if it succeeds.

I could also see that it's independant and not affected by the persistent nature of the spell. Any ideas? (note: this would also apply to things like Protection from Evil)
