Our campaign begins in the year 589 CY. Assume that anything that is canon has happened, with the exception of the Scarlet Brotherhood. It probably won't affect our game much, but I've decided to keep them a secret, rather than going with canon and saying they announced themselves. The area on the map known as The Scarlet Brotherhood instead becomes the Kingdom of Shar, and the organization remains a secret. We will begin around the area of the Domain of Greyhawk. If we end up getting together in person, I think I have a good starting hook that will allow us to incorporate other people as well. As we're starting near Greyhawk, please come up with a reason why your character is in the area, if they are not originally from the area. I've put a link to the map under my name, as well as a link to the Obsidian Portal page for the game.
I initially asked the question because of Baba Yaga. She's an augmented human with the mythic subtype so it made sense that anyone with Mythic tiers could get the subtype. The subtype gives everything that tiers do, basically, with bonus HP, DR, and a natural armor bonus, but it says that it gives the creature mythic rank.
Thanks for answering Wolfgang! So you said earlier in the thread that the feats, spells, and monsters are open, but not necessarily the names? For instance, the name Kazzakh Leap is Product Identity but the crunch of the feat is Open? Is that right, or is none of it Open? What about the class variants like the Skald or the new cleric domains? But to my original question, I didn't see any reference to Product Identity or Open Content in the book. Isn't it required to be there by the OGL?
Oh, I tried that and it said that if I wanted to change just one order to contact you guys, so all of my other orders don't go to the other address. Sorry, I kind of thought you had some way of looking at my profile and seeing addresses, lol. Can you please ship to: 800 Blue Mountain Road
Thanks again.
In the homebrew magic was codified into the schools by a Southern empire long ago so I really like the idea of rune magic / sin magic as other types of magic that just didn't go mainstream, so I'm not opposed to the inclusion of the sin magic. I guess I just didn't really want the Runelord to focus on Sin magic, and I wasn't sure how that shift would affect the rest of the adventures. It seems like I might have a lot of work in front of me. The cult of Lamashtu in the first book is easily shifted to an established cult from my homebrew, so I've got that one covered, and they don't really have anything to do with Karzoug anyway. The concept of sin magic doesn't have to be specific to the 7 realms of Thassilon I guess, so maybe THE Runelord could simply be the Northern representative of the 7 (now I'll need a new name for them as there will only be one Runelord) and I can keep most of the sin stuff but just reinvent the Thassilonian connection, perhaps by spreading the sin realms around the world. I also like the idea of Karzoug being bound to an item, that could be really interesting! Thanks for the ideas! Please keep them coming.
Forgive me if this has been brought up before, but how intrinsic to the AP is the concept of Sin? I don't play in Golarion and so as I'm building up to run the hardcover when I get it I was hoping to adapt it to my homebrew world, specifically in a setting much like Open Game Design's Northlands. I'm thinking of ending the game with the defeat of Mokmurian in Fortress of the Stone Giants, so I'm just not sure that the whole sin aspect needs to apply to my game. Any thoughts on how I could keep the Rune Magic but get rid of some of the emphasis on the sin? Thanks! D
LazarX wrote: Yes, they've had some bad years. in 2009 they were bought by Ryan Dancey's company. I don't know what if anything Dancey's doing with the property. So actually the White Wolf you knew, ceased to exist long ago. Here's an interview with Ryan Dancey concerning White Wolf (well, there's 1 question about White Wolf at the very end).
I'm sure I could ask this question on other messageboards, but I like the Paizo community a little more so I thought I'd ask you guys. My Xbox has the red ring of death, and I'm wondering if I can just buy a new one and swap hard drives. Does it work like that? I hate to think that all of my info is just lost now, but I'm not really a hardcore (video) gamer so I don't know too much about it, and I'm not really comfortable trying to open up my current Xbox. Can anybody help? Or at the very least point me to a website that might be helpful? Thanks!
You might find the Vampire Translation Guide useful. You can update Old to New and add New to Old. It's cheap and it has a lot of good reviews.
I'm gonna watch this thread with interest! My plan for the end of my STAP was to have a PC take over as Princess of Demons and to have Demogorgon be some sort of phantom menace. I don't know much about vestiges so I don't have much to add there, but can I ask if one of your PC's became Prince of Demons or did another demon like Orcus or Graz'zt?
In my homebrew world I used a couple of races from Star Wars and adapted them to a Renaissance-era level of technology. The Twi'leks of my world are sort of an Italian-like culture and are very innovative in the arts and sciences. The harems of the Turkish-based empire are full of Twi'lek females, and the reds are particularly valuable. Twi'lek
Twi'leks are a humanoid species from the planet Ryloth. They have distinctive features including colorful skin, which vary in pigment from individual to individual, and a pair of shapely prehensile tentacles that grow from the base of their skulls. The tentacles, called "brain-tails", "lekku", or "head-tails" are used for communication and cognitive functions. Type: Humanoid (0)

Stebehil wrote: I would make it a short PrC with three or five levels, not a full PrC. My thoughts exactly. I agree with a lot of what you have written. I would like to see a PrC for the player and the character, but I think it could also be done differently. A 5 level class would do nicely, I think - nothing too fancy.
I don't believe they need to be F/MU either, but I remember the LGG saying "many of them wizards as well as fighters." A PrC for rangers would work best, because the reason I bring it up at all is for a character who is a Ranger (with a level or two of Druid, I think) and I would like to see a potential PrC be more ranger than chivalric knight. They also have members actively fighting the humanoids of the Pomarj and I think Ranger abilities would suit their style of guerilla warfare best.
I don't know much about the orders so you could be right. My Greyhawk-fu is weak these days.
Not sure about the triple order part, I think that might be a different order. It seems a lot of Knights of Luna would be Ftr/Wiz types. I've thought of both of those PrCs, but you're right; they are pretty cheesy. I'll check out the Eternal Blade, as I'm not familiar with that one. I've also considered just making them an affiliation a la PH2.
