Sorry in advance for what is probably a very basic question that I should already know... but, some things just don't sink in.

Let's say you have this Class, XYZ, and it has some collection of Class Features, X1, X2, X3, X4, and X5.

Now, let's say that someone creates a new Archetype based on that Class, and they refer to it as ABC (XYZ Archetype). And let's say that they create new Class Features, A3 and A5. A3, they say, modifies X1, and replaces X3. A5, they say, likewise modifies X1, and also modifies X2, and replaces X5.

In the end, should we refer to this as a New Class? In other words, do we now have a Class named ABC, with Class Features X1(modified), X2(modified), A3, X4, and A5?

Actually, it also just occurred to me that they refer to 'modifying' X1 and X2... Well, that makes them Not-X1 and Not-X2. Don't their names have to change to something new? Like X1(A3), and X2(A3,A5)?

Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out what sort of thing I'm supposed to end up with when presented with the description of a Class Archetype, as I have tried to illustrate above.

I've read 'the rules', but I will be completely happy with an answer here that tells me to go read 'the rules' (or whatever), if I've just missed the answer.

Thanks, guys!

Greetings,

I've looked high and low for an answer. Now I am here.

If you were to take a look in the NPC Codex at the stat blocks of, for example, a couple of Illusionist NPCs, specifically, Prankster Illusionist (p.185) and/or Black Ice (p.238), you would find in one or two of their Spells a single digit instead of the DC, or in addition to the DC. For instance, with Prankster Illusionist, look at color spray:

1st -- color spray (2, DC 17)

While in Black Ice, you'll see:

2nd -- invisibility (2) and
1st -- magic missile (2)

Can someone tell me what those digits signify? Both by themselves, and with the DC?

Thanks!

Greetings all,

This is a bit of a triviality, but... still, I want to see if I can get this right.

In the Subject doc, on page 12, there is a reference to an NPC, "Thallon", who is tagged as a "N corrupt guild member", and cross-references to Pathfinder RPG NPC Codex, page 121.

Unfortunately, page 121 of the NPC Codex describes:

> Rider of the Steppe
> Half-elf Paladin 14
> LG Medium humanoid (elf, human)
> etc.

Searching the Codex for "corrupt guild member", or "guild member", etc., I am unable to find what the original reference might have intended, or even a relevant substitute for it.

Anyway, I'm hoping that, perhaps, one of the authors of Taverns of the Inner Sea (Kate Baker, Eleanor Ferron, Michelle Jones, Jason Keeley, Luis Loza, Jacob W. Michaels, Joe Pasini, David N. Ross) might be monitoring these "Paizo Products -> Product Discussion" posts and can enlighten me.

That's it. Simply put, what NPC archetype is "Thallon", from page 12 of Taverns of the Inner Sea?

Thanks!

Greetings,

Warning, possibility of minor spoilers ahead for Players of The Skinsaw Murders.

My PCs have taken seriously the possibility of Scarnetti involvement in the early murders of Skinsaw. In fact our rogue (a goblin, I might add - now there's someone who has heard the hue and cry for diversity!) will be casing the Manor late in the evening on Fireday, the 11th of Lamashan. He hasn't really said what he will be looking for (this may just be an excuse to purloin a pretty bauble or trinket, or even find something new and exotic to satisfy his insatiable appetite).

Anyway, in order to keep alive this red herring, in their search for the true perpetrator(s), I feel it would be best to provide some level of mapping for the rogue's activity. Otherwise, the meta-game portion of the PCs brains will take over and realize that this must be a dead end, since there's no map, or other detail. Get my drift?

With that in mind, has anyone created any internal floorplans for the Scarnetti Manor? I have found the, most excellent, exterior map by Noxveritas out on DeviantArt. However, my searching has turned up a big zero for anything for the interior.

So, before I go off and try my hand at mapmaking (I'm not particularly optimistic about that), I thought I'd better ask if anyone else has squirreled away anything that would help with this?

Thanks.

Greetings,

Our newbie group has finished the intro campaign from the Beginner Box, and we have moved on to the short campaign presented in the BB GM Kit. On page 5 of the Beginner Box GM Kit, Spider Lair, under treasure, they refer to a 'potion of healing'... What is that?

The BB GM Guide (page 51) refers to "Potions of Cure [Light/Moderate/Serious] Wounds", but there is no mention of a "Potion of Healing".

Thanks.

Greetings,

New Pathfinder player (and soon-to-be GM) here. I have the Beginner Box, and I will be playing through the example dungeon with some other newbies. After that I expect to play through some, or all, the various Beginner scenarios I see out there.

My question is this: In other RPGs there is some form of player handbook, like the BB's Hero's Handbook, of which each player usually has his/her own copy. In the BB there is only the single Hero's Handbook. Doesn't each player need their own? If so, where do you get them? If not, why not?

Thanks.
