So my level 1 druid has a roc as a companion. I understand the compnaion's speed is the distance it can travel, but how HIGH can it fly?? Also, can I train it to attack a monster that is on the ground while the companion stays in flight without ever touching the ground? How would this work against a melee attack from the creature on the ground? Does the ground creature miss since the companion is flying in the air, or would the monster get a chance to hit the druid's companion?

Thank you!

I am creating a level 1 Human Druid and thinking about giving it Spell Focus (conjuration) and Augment Summoning as starting out feats. Augment Summoning states that you gain a +4 bonus to Str and Con FOR THE DURATION OF THE SPELL THAT SUMMONED IT. So, as a level 1 druid, if I were to use a Summon Nature's Ally I spell, the ally would only get the +4 to Str and Con for 1 round???? Since the duration of Summon Nature Ally I is 1 round/level?? Am I interpreting this correctly?

Thank you,

Thanks for the fast responses! I like the idea of keeping the stats for the Roc and just calling it a Giant Owl. Thanx!

I am new to Pathfinder and rpgs in general, but we want to start playing. My friend wants to play a Druid. She wants to Nature Bond with the Animal Companion, but she also wants it to serve as a mount, (she's a human, so she'll need a Large creature or bigger to mount). However, she wants a Giant Owl that is not even considered an animal companion in the Bestiary 3 book. I do not have a clue as to how to start on this. I know that she'll need an exotic harness to ride it, or take a penalty, and I guess she needs skills in Handle Animal and Ride? A regular owl is an animal companion bird option, but it is a small creature that of course cannot be mounted by a human. I am very confused. Please help!
