School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]; Level bard 5
Casting Time 1 immediate action
Components V, S
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target one living creature
Duration 1 round
Saving Throw Will negates; Spell Resistance yes
Cast this spell when an enemy is about to make an attack
against an ally. The creature makes the attack against a
valid target of your choice instead or the attack is negated.
In addition, the target is considered an ally for determining
flanking for 1 round.

Some questions about this spell.
1) can this be used on a caster casting a spell like scorching ray, ray of frost, or any spell based attack.

2) during a full round attack, what happens to the consecutive attacks. Ex. tiger full round attacks (2 attacks) fighter, bard casts foe to freind on the tiger's first attack, tiger fails will save, what happens to the tiger's 2nd attack.

I am trying to make a vampire monk (I am the GM) for my next session but I was trying to figure something out. Vampires do not have a constitution score, so how does the sorceror vampire in the bestiary have such a high fortitude save? Do vampires get thier fortitude save modifier from charisma instead as that stat is keyed into thier health/level?

Hey I was just thinking if it is better to run around two handing a temple sword (1d8, 19-20 crit) then it is to just use fists?

For instance by two handing a temple sword you would get more damage from stenght and power attack and less variable damage due to dice. I figured by level 20 (15 with monk's robes) you might aswell go for the 2 d10's worth of damage but what about before hand? But at what level is it not worth using a weapon anymore?

I am also a fan of jedi's and I figured a Ghost Hungry Monk running around with a temple sword tripping and kicking people is the best the closest you'll get. (Maybe Eldritch knight with telekinesis and lightning bolt, but thats a different thread).

The party is about to enter a tomb in between two cliffs roughly around 200 ft apart. On the opposite side of the tomb, the party notices a pair of sleeping wyverns.

The paladin (Paladin of erastil) says "lets kill the wyverns before we enter the tomb" (he also said out of character that the wyverns are going to attack the party so it's best to kill em before they kill the party and was metagaming).

The party pulls out it's bows and wakes up the wyverns, kills one of the wyverns. And the other one runs away because she was mortally wounded.

I told the paladin that he lost his powers cause he committed an evil act by acting a sleeping sentient being that was not evil. And I told him that he essentially killed 3 wyverns as the pair had a nest and that the one wyvern wouldn't be able to properly hunt and feed her litter of wyverns (2).

His argument was that they were monster and needed to be purged from the land.

So my question is that is what he did an evil act in killing the wyverns while they are asleep. At the very least the action is cowardly, as paladins' should not attack sleeping foes.

Now I'm not saying that they are overpowered, but some of the pit spells seem stronger then other spells of the same level. For instance create pit seems almost like a save/ or be removed from combat spells at low level. I am currently DMing Kingmaker right now, and the party sorcerer seems to like this spell a lot, and uses it disable enemies from a distance and as a form of battlefield control. Now my problem isn't the spell, it's just the level of the spell and how much it hurts npcs/monsters that don't fly or have a form of flight. He constantly uses it to remove threats from the board and as a DM I have roll unnaturally high for the spell not to have an effect. With a DC climb of 25, it is very difficult for the enemies to enter the battle again.

Am I missing something or is this very powerful for a level 2 spell?

I was having a discussion with my playgroup last night and we were discussing who was the party leader. Some people said that it should be the person with the highest charisma - ei the oracle because he had the highest charisma.
I was saying it was the ranger cause historically it is ussually the ranger who is the party leader ex. Aragorn and Drizzt who were both rangers. Ranger's versatility allows him to get in and out of situations and he can either be a ranged striker or two weapon fighter with light magic to augment himself and the party and he has the skills to back up his versatility.

We just started a game of CoT, I am playing a ranger. Now I picked human as my first favoured enemy. I was wondering what should be my 2nd favoured be? I was considering evil outsider or undead. What would be a better choice?

One the DM's that I play with, is going to "downgrade" my monk.

He feels that my monk is over powered and that he can't challenge me without TPKing the party or when he does try to make an encounter to challenge my character that it makes it too difficult for the rest of the party to deal with. He gave the players a 36 points to make their characters. I first decided to play a fighter and after multiple sessions of getting mind controlled I switched to a monk and took a level as a penalty for switching characters at level 7-6.

So far my character is as at lvl 9 Human Monk

STR 24 with +2 strenght item
Dex 16
con 14
Int 8
Wis 18 with + 2 wisdom item
cha 7

I use mage armor with the help of the wizard (I have a wand of mage armor) Ac= 23 + Mage armor (27) and when I feel the need + ki point (31) at level 9. And I purchased a Monk's robe with the help of the party rogue ( I owe her 4000 gp and 2000 for the loan cost/interest). My cmd is 33 and higher when they try to grapple/trip.

My flurry is 14 14 9 9 at 2d6 + 7 and my saves are really good.

Well the dm feels that I'm too good so he decided make me flurry of my dex (+3 instead of + 7) so that I am now at 11 11 6 6 (lvl 9) when I melee flurry. And on top of that he is removing my wisdom to my cmd. When I asked him if I could modify my stats so that I could have more dex instead of str in order to hit more he said no.

This is after he ruled that haste doesn't stack with my flurry (questionable). and that weapon focus: unarmed strike does not add to my cmb (against the rules).

I then asked if I could play another class like a paladin; he said I can't for the reason that I as a person cant play LG characters.

Now he said that im' the only one who powered gamed when the druid started with a 20 wisdom and the dwarven wizard started with a 18 intelligence and 18 con + toughness. And there is a ranged ranger that does redicoulous damage every turn. I feel kind of screwed here when I just played by the rules in the book and get penalized.

I told the dm that the monk is MAD (str + de + con + wis) and I made him to attack well; He ignores my views on that telling me that I only need str + wisdom. The thing that is find the most annoying is that he switches the rules on me well after I've played this character for like 9-10 sessions and doesn't allow me to adjust my stats according to his new rules.

I'm not sure wheather I should stay in the game; or just kill my character via doing stupid things as I do not find this game very enjoyable anymore or just roll with punches until I get more fed up.

Is the Eidolen allowed to take the feats :Light armor profiency;Medium Armor Profiency;Heavy Armor Profiency???

This is the first time I am running an adventure path and thus am kind of confused on some things and had some general questions.

1. The level progression; Is it slow medium or fast?
2. Some of the players want to run as non-core races (aasimar and hobgoblin) does this AP support that or is it preferred that they use standard races?
3. How long does the average adventure path take to run? (How many 4-5 hour sessions)
4. Does the AP indicate how much crafting time is alloted? In my home brew game I had some difficulties with Pc's crafting too much.

When a monk uses his flurry of blows does his cmb get a -2?
The reason for this is cause flurry of blows includes two weapon fighting+full base attak bonus. Two weapon fighting gives your attacks a -2 modifer for the round which transfer over to your trip and disarm attempts.

One of my players said thats how he uses his monk when playing in my game and I wanted to make sure that was correct

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

If a monk uses flurry of blows and has had the haste spell cast on him does he get an additional attack at his highest bab while he is flurring?

Pearl of Power: Once per Day on command, a pearl of power enables the possessor to recall any one spell that she had prepared and then cast that day. The spell is then prepared again, just as if it had not been cast. The spell must be of a particular level, depending on the pearl. Different pearls exist for recalling one spell per day of each level from 1st to 9th and for the recall of two spells per day (each of a different level, 6th or lower).

#1. What is the maximum of number of pearls of power a caster can use per spell level per spell slot?
Ex: Which is correct?
a)I have 4 spell slots at level 1, I am allowed one level 1 Pearl of Power.
b)I have 4 spell slots at level 1, I am allowed four level 1 Pearls of Power. One per spell slot.
c)I have 4 spell slots at level 1, I am allowed as many as I want level 1 Pearls of Power.

#2. Depending on the answer on #1; How many pearls of power can a caster use of one level? Ex. Can I use 2 level 1 Pearls of Power for 2 different level 1 spells, 1 spell per pearl?
Ex: I have "mage armor" and "sheild" memorized and use both. Can I recharge both spells each with a pearl of power; one for "mage armor", one for "sheild"?

#3. If I have multiple pearls of power, may I use a pearl of power to relearn a spell that has been relearned via another pearl of power?
Ex: I have one magic missile memorized of this day. I cast it that day and then relearn it via pearl of power lvl 1. If I cast magic missile from the pearl of power, may I use a 2nd pearl of power level 1 to relearn it again.

Anyone else excited with the new buffs they came up for the rogue? More Hp, and abilities... now I'm not the sacrificial trap finder in my party...
