I would keep the stats ass they are, because thats in line with other 4th ed races, and Id add the half giants 'large build' ability (i think its called that) from 3rd / 3.5. This allowed them to use large weapons, and might convert directly into 4th ed (although Icant remember seeing rules for weapon size). Just my two pennys. Scott

FFG's Fireborn. The ideas a good starting point for a game, (half human half dragon types scraping in a modern day secret war) but the rules are just dull. And it felt like a lot of work to run it.
That said, its not as bad as some of the total disasters others on here have found.

I dont know wild cards, but Ive just wikipedia'd it, so I think I know what you mean Radavel. Sounds good to me.
Could create a mechanic simmilar to death from massive damage? either just for non-supers or both.
Any plans for restricting origin of powers etc? Or ideas of what kind of characters or group youd like to see?

Hey again Radavel...

played In Nomine briefly, its an awesome game, and the d666 mechanic is a rare example of game background and mechanics working together perfectly. HIGHLY recommend it.

Most of the games ive played in before were based more on the wildstorm background, so im used to playing mutant black ops soldiers and the like, so Id get a kick out of playing publicly known 'superheroes' for a change, with or without secret identities.

That said, Ive also never played anything based on X-men, so that would be good.

Im quite happy to be flexible tbh, just like to play.

MSH is my favorite game to run as well, had the same campaign for about two years at one point.

As for a PBP game, Radavel, Id like to register my interest

Ive played MSH, DC Heroes, Tri Stat system (silver age sentinels and BESM)and Aberrant, and read Mutants and Masterminds.
I ran two MSH campaigns simultameously in the same setting for about two years and it remains my all time favourite game to DM, simply because of its flexibility.
Tri Stat has the same advantage, but its a little to 'rules light' for me - some players struggled with there characters 'niche' because there abilitys ended up fairly simmilar to others.
MSH's character generation does suffer from game balance issues, but there are plenty of point based systems about on t'internet you can use, and game balance is part of the gm's job anyway.

That said, I liked the background in Abberent, it always struck me as more mature and realistic than many of the comic based settings, and as a more detailed system, its easier to run certain types of game - e.g. a gritty (ish) batman or punisher style game, or one based on low - no power characters taking on super's e.g. I.Os black razors or Stormwatch Team Achilies (or PHD) (from Wildstorm / DC), Batman, the Punisher, Aberrants Directive etc(I think this applies to M&M too).

Actually, If someone wants to run a pbm along those lines, Id love to play. (Looks around hopefully...)

I realise this is rather late - just a quick apology - my 4 month old daughter has been taken into hospital, so ive been short of time to post. Im going to be unavailable for the forseeable future, so will have to drop out of the adventure. Apologies for not getting in touch sooner

Khorvaire Elf Rogue

I don't like playing mages, and if I remember correctly, the scouts special attacks require ten feet of movment - it could be a pain making that ability work in pbb - no grids, see...

Any restrictions on another dragon mark?
will have character ready in next couple of days. How much do you require by way of background?

D'oh, I just realised that my post in pbp discussion should have been on here. Im in if you still have room. Will get back with character concept etc. asap. Cheers

Evil Genius, have you still got room for one more player?
Im new on these boards but p'dbp before and Eberrons my favorite D&D setting at the moment. Feel free to email me on (spicer_296@hotmail.com) or reply on here. Thanks

I realise that Im going to be bucking a trend here, but why, everytime any company issues a new edition of a game, is there massive uproar?
I first started playing D&D before third edition. When WOC published it, the group I was playing with continued playing TSR's AD&D. And still do to this day.

If you dont want to part with your hard earned cash for a fourth edition, dont. Theres enough material available in 3 / 3.5 ed format in shops and online to keep anyone going for years, and like my old AD&D group, you can always rely on your own imagination rather than published 'canon' material.

Further more, if your regular group wants to see / use the material WOC put on there website, theres nothing to stop you spreading the cost out amongst the group - Ive been a member of several gaming clubs that opperated the same way with print material - the players and DMs all contributed equally to the cost of something new the game needed - everyone benefited from the new toy.

Id also like to say, that while theres not much information on 4th ed available, I like what i've read on the WOC website. The planned changes to the way races work is a great idea, and the fact the the basic systems going to be fairly simmilar (otherwise they wouldnt be able to call it d20) means that we should be able to adapt existing material to it. Ok, the changes in the way classes (esp fighter)work might be inspired buy systems like WOWs (according to my friend. I dont play it), but thats a good move, because itll help bring in the mmorpg players (those that arent already pen and paper players), but I also like the idea of there being a mechanical difference between ( using their example) an axe fighter and a sword fighter.

So long as the new editions an improvemnet on the old, wheres the problem? To this point, it dosent look like WOC are pulling a 'games workshop' - taking there main games lines and dumbing them down (ahem - current ed of 40k)m and making it worse (in my oppinion)

Anyway, ive started to ramble. Any response?
