*BUMP*

Also, if you're around the Wich House on Willamette around six this evening, stop by. The gang there usually plays board games, but JSL and I are going to see if they'd be up for playing a 4e delve. We've got 9 pre-gens, minis, mats, and dice. You bring yourself and a #2 Dixon Ticonderoga and we're all good to go!

AS the sun wastes in the west, turning the grey clouds orange, red, and purple, a tall man with leafy walking stick and brown road-stained robes and a boy of ten years walk a single-track deer trail that cuts through the thick undergrowth and skirts the great oaks of the Witchwood.

“Tell me about the Vale,” the boy says quietly.

“You will see soon enough,” says the man. He relents when he sees the boy’s crestfallen look. “What would you know?”

The boys beams but considers before speaking. “Is it very large?”

“Mmm. ‘Tis perhaps eighty leagues or more in length from the Westdeep to the Golden Plains and is bound by mountains North and South—The Giantshield and The Wyvernwatch—with perhaps twenty-five leagues between.”

“Have you been to the Westdeep?” Asks the boy reverently.

“I have,” Says the man. “And to the plains and mountains and the Marth, and the Blackfens, and the Thornewaste.” He looks at the slackjawed boy beside him and smiles. “And all over these woods with you. But look, now.”

The trail emerges suddenly from the shadow of the tree line and affords them both a view of the sloping fields, the river, and the town beyond.

“What place is this?” The boy asks shielding his eyes even in the dimming light.

“The river is the Elsir; the town, Drellin’s Ferry.” Says the man grimly.

The boy inhales though his teeth , “Then this is where—“

“—Yes.” Says the man, “This is where it all began some ten years ago when the Red Hand marched on the Vale.” He adds with some sadness is his voice, “When you were born. The war drums sounded through the Witchwood, and the Hand issued from this very spot to attack Drellin’s Ferry.”

“You were there?” Asks the boy as he shivers a little.

“I was.”

“You said the Heroes made their first stand against the Hand in Drellin’s Ferry.” Says the boy, looking into the man’s eyes.

“They did.” The man responds.

“Did you see them, Jaroo?” Asks the boy. “Did you know them?”

“I did,” says the man, Jaroo, as he looks down upon the town in the fading light. “I knew them well.”

Well, Dravos Stonebrow, hard-drinking and harder-hitting dwarf fighter (or cleric) will be ready. I just have to decide whether to start as fighter or cleric. It comes down to ranged attacks, really. If someone else is a ranger or rogue, I can safely start him as fighter and not worry about needing anything better than a thrown hammer at range. But if we are short on ranged, I should start him as cleric so I can keep Searing Light around longer.

My intent (as I've belabored already) is to have one of each character role in the party, so I'd say go with Fighter if that's what you'd like.

So far, it looks like the following folks from our RotRL group are confirmed "in:"

JSL Defender (1st choice) or Leader (2nd)
Rags
Fabes

While I think NSpicer has expressed an interest, I couldn't find a "I'm definately in" post from him (though I could've missed it). So I have down as "maybes:"

NSpicer
Dreamer
Arctaris

Is this accurate? Also, Dreamer, if it makes it any easier to decide, take a look at the pre-gens I mentioned above. If one grabs your fancy, use it and forego the work of character generation altogether.

Ideally, I'd like the party to be four, five, or six strong so that I can go through the DMG without any unusual acrobatics. Five, of course, would be the best. I am steadfast in not wanting fewer than four or more than six characters in the party, though.

As suggested by JSL on another post
, I am trying to see if the players who are on Arctaris' alternates list would like to start their own Rise of the Rune Lords PbP campaign.

Specifically, those players would be TerraNova, JSL, and myself. I was also wondering if FabesMinis, who dropped out of Artaris' campaign, would be interested in playing.

JSL suggested that we could rotate DMing responsibilities each module. That is fine with me, but I would request that someone else start if possible. I literally haven't DMed since I was in ninth grade (which was about 18 years ago). I don't mind taking a turn, but I do mind taking the first turn.

So, if you see this TerraNova, JSL, and FabesMinis, tell be what you think. Interested?
