So, I am a longtime GM/DM, & I'm looking for a new system to try out here. I want to run a dark & extremely gritty dieselpunk roleplaying system. I am completely able to add in the dieselpunk world setting myself if the game is generic/universal... It doesn't have to be a free system, but the less books I'd have to purchase the better. What I'm looking for here exactly:
A. A system which has a robust (this doesn't necessarily mean ultra-crunchy) character creation system.
B. A system which can work for a longer campaign.
C. A system which puts the players in real peril (very possible death to PCs if they snowball bad/unlucky choices).
D. A system which is gritty!
E. A system which I haven't played yet...
With my current group we've played:
Angel/Buffy Roleplaying Game
d20
Fate Core
Lord of the Rings Roleplaying Game
Nemesis
Pathfinder
Risus
Savage Worlds
Star Wars (D6)
Star Wars (d20)
Star Wars (Fantasy Flight)
Steampunk RPG
True20
What I'd like is to run my very experienced group through a dark/cruel dieselpunk era campaign... I don't really care if it's an old-school game, rules light game, or a highly crunchy game, as long as they are able to have plenty of character options when building or leveling a character.
Any help at all would be fantastic! If you need anything more specific or you have any recommendations please let me know!
Thank you so much in advance!
I am just wondering if my order (#3136886) placed on May 30th, is ever going to actually ship, or stay in pending for the foreseeable future?
This order is a gift for a birthday on July 30th, & the order(s) are still pending, although some of the products were listed as in stock at the time they were placed...
If you can tell me they WILL ship soon, that's fine, otherwise I will probably cancel the order.
I have made more the 50 orders through you guys, & this is the first time I've had this much trouble...
Thank you for any help which you can offer!

So, I have a player who wants to be the group's scout, & he's building a first level character. He hasn't yet decided which class to play yet, maybe a ranger (though he doesn't want to cast, after playing a Witch, a Dread Necromancer, & a Cleric in our last three campaigns)... Anyway, that is in no way the topic of this question, sorry...
Focusing in:
Which Feats would be best for him?
I allow Pathfinder, just about any balanced 3PP, & even some older 3.5 Feats...
He's not looking for combat & fighting feats! He's looking for actual feats which would help him as a SCOUT (not a combatant!)!
The obvious answers of course are:
Alertness
Athletic
Fleet
Skill Focus
& Stealthy
Just looking for any & all other options, as is he...
Please tell me you guys have some ideas? We only really need advice on scout Feats!
Thanks,
ronnie
Hey, I know this probably a stupid question which has been asked a million times, but does anyone know of a good reliable map making software which can be shared with others online?
I am planning on running a multi-level Pathfinder dungeon dive soon on Google+ with a close group of friends from far reaches. What I need the software to do:
Allow me to build & populate my dungeon...
Allow players to see where they are, & where other players are in relation to them...
Only expose the portions of the map to players which they can see via light source or whatnot...
The Software doesn't have to be free or anything...
Recommend your favorites, or just any which work & fit these prerequisites!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Alright, bare essentials I like what everyone likes (weapons (always SOMETHING ranged and something melee, even if I suck at one or the other!), armor, clothing, food, water, bedroll), as for anything else IF I have the gold, I'd damn near ALWAYS buy:
At LEAST one CLW potion!
The longest length of the lightest Rope I can afford (I prefer one 100 footer to two 50 foot lengths)!
The longest length of Chain I can afford (once again, I PERSONALLY prefer one 50 footer to five 10 foot lengths)!
I know it's been said, but I can't stress how awesome a Masterwork Backpack is!
Four Metal Pitons...
A Guard Dog is nice when I can afford one!
And as for my quirky one...
I almost always, ALWAYS, if I have gold to spare for it, carry the longest roll of the best fabric I can afford! Hear me out, it's usually a one-yard wide, 20 + foot long roll of silk or canvas, but occasionally wool or cotton. In campaigns, here's the short list of how's it come in handy over the years, in myriad campaigns:
Bound someone to immobile objects (on MANY occasions!)!
Pinned it with pitons to the ground, then thrown it onto a boat, rowed across a river, then pinned the other side to make a bridge!
Used it for a trade good when we REALLY needed it!
Boarded ships with it as a combination Grappling Hook/mobile bridge!
Used the roll as a pillow!
Used the fabric, folded over, as a saddle blanket!
And trust me, my gaming group could probably think of a dozen more, without breaking a sweat!
I have always found some good, though often unorthodox, use for the fabric... And we almost always opt for silk, in fact, I've had (with a generous GM okaying it) several other party members who had nothing in particular they wanted to buy after the essentials actually chip in on the silk, so that I could get a longer roll, so that we could maybe do more with it! I know it's an odd proclivity, but it's been useful WAY more times than it's been a burden!
I just feel I should mention, I have a friend, who has yet to have a character who isn't carrying an umbrella or parasol, no matter the campaign, and it's also been weirdly useful!

Alright, I have four individually quick questions, and three are really more advice than anything else:
One... Two parts, sorry. Somewhere, either in the Paizo PFRPG source materials somewhere, or in a 3PP somewhere, I remember seeing a magic or wondrous item which was a piece of cloth, which you stored items in, the items appeared as if they'd been embroidered into the cloth while stored there. Does anyone know the name of this item & what piece of source material it comes from?
In clarification for the next three questions, here's a little preliminary information: I am running a high-magic campaign, under a slow experience progression, with Hero Point awards, but one where I am being pretty miserly with the awarding of magical items, as we have a character who down the road intends to go the whole craft magical doodad direction in the near future. I have been giving out plenty of gold, jewels, art objects, trade goods, and other general mundane treasures, to make up for it, and keep my players in potions and the other expendables. The party have an arc-ending battle against a single, well equipped, well prepared, opponent coming up in the not so distant future, and now, alright...
Two... What is the earliest in a campaign (I'm asking for an average player level here) at which you would award a group of four players a Portable Hole? They could seriously use the extra carry capacity/other features of one is why I ask...
Three... What is the earliest in a campaign (again, I'm asking for an average player level here) at which you would award a group of four players a Type II Bag of Holding, or Barrel of Holding, or Basket of Holding, as the case may be at my fickle GMing whim when it happens? Same reasoning here. Just to clarify, any way I cut this one it'd essentially be a Type II Bag of Holding, I just think it's a little bit more fun to add some flavor by making it another type of vessel, is all.
Four... Two... What is the earliest in a campaign (I know it's repetitive here, but of course I'm asking for an average player level here, again) at which you would award a group of four players the item I asked about in the first question?
Seriously, sorry for the repetitive nature of this, and thank you all so much for the help, and it really IS a BIG help!
Sorry, trying one more time here... Any help would be awesome!
So, I have an upcoming online campaign, and I would greatly like to use Mites as a playable class, but I am having a bit of trouble figuring out what the Mite Racial Traits should be. I am going to try and make them a 10 RP (as defined by the Advanced Race Guide Playtest PDF), or as close as possible. Any idea how you'd do the Mite Racial Traits? Is there more than one option for it? Thanks for any help, honestly! I really could use it!

Thank you guys so much, I am a long time gamer, and I am learning A LOT here! I ABSOLUTELY appreciate it!!! Now...
So, here's a simplified and revised NEEDS list for the system I will eventually choose:
1. Definitive (even if I have to figure it out myself) insanity/fear/madness aesthetic of some sort... It just makes sense!
2. A well defined called shot system (even if it's not perfect, anything which'll do the job!)
3. Crunchiness enough to allow for complex actions/resolutions and defined combat!
4. Streamlined enough play to allow for limitless decision making and EXCESSIVE FREEDOM to ROLEPLAY!!!
5. Ease of learning for both me and my players (I am less worried about them than me, yikes!)...
6. If it's not completely ridiculous I'd LOVE to see a workable fatigue system!
7. True life and death danger for the characters, during any combat encounters, even at higher levels,
And an additional IF POSSIBLE:
8. A hard copy (preferably hardcover) of the rulebook/source books... (I don't have a computer close by in my Roleplaying space...
A few quick notes on my particular post-apocalyptic zombie apocalypse game:
A. Guns shouldn't end up being most peoples' weapons of choice, as ammunition is exceedingly hard to come by!
B. The studied source material for this campaign is equal parts Cormac McCarthy's The Road and AMC's The Walking Dead. My players did their homework and have read the books, and watched the show I asked them to.
C. There should be an overwhelming and constant sense of dread, increasing as the gravity of everything sinks in!
D. The SEARCH for food and drinkable water should be almost as important as being quiet and not being eaten!
E. Interactions with other groups of survivors will invariably by strained if not completely negative (cannibals)!
F. For the most part, the entirety of the campaign is set in OUR world, maybe 3 years from now... So I can't justify going too techy at all... The minor mutations come with downsides, slowly destroying the persons body and mind. We will be completely normal humans... Our party has some character ideas already, for example, A borderline crazy fire and brimstone preacher, a prostitute turned merchant, an ex-military officer, an industrial engineer... Two others are still considering...
Hope those help, along with everything else. Seriously though, you guys have been a GREAT help so far, in the next week or so I must make a decision though...
Before I can choose either of them, or add them to my consideration list, (despite the fact they both look absolutely AMAZING!!!) I am going to need to hear specifics on the combat systems of Razed and Dread. Can anyone at all be of help with the particulars of either?
I didn't know GURPS was a Steve Jackson Games product! That ALONE makes me want to check it out, heh! Any links to 3E/4E books I'd need or could use? Are there decent prices on print editions?
Alright, so as of this moment I have a new list of game systems I am considering (Please continue to add anything I am obviously missing and give any advice you can!):
D6 Roleplaying System (Is there anyone who has played a zombie game with this, who'd like to share?)
GURPS (Sounding very cool, if it's not too crunchy... Please give me an idea, is it all crunch?)
Tri-Stat DX Roleplaying System (Still seems like a great system, anyone know if it's possible to get a Print copy?)
Products I'd consider with more information:
Chaosium
Dread
Razed
I've run, and LOVED d20 Modern, but a bunch of my RPG books (mostly randos, d20 Modern, and WoD books) were stolen a few years back, during a move... I don't really know about running this particular campaign in the d20 Modern system... Wasn't there a rumor that Paizo was going to get the rights to do a d20 Modern thing? Too bad I haven't seen that around!
Thanks again, everyone... Sorry to be a nuisance!
What is the basic breakdown of the Chaosium system?

I have no real problem with crunchiness, I have been running a Kingmaker campaign, and am still running a Star Wars d20 (RCRB edition not Saga) campaign. We are, as a group, wanting to move away from that type of rules intense roleplaying, toward a robust, but more much streamlined system.
Okay, I have a few question to toss out here, and they may be complex to answer, sorry about that...
GURPS looks awesome, I have been aware of it for like 10 years, but never run/played anything in that system... What're the big differences between 3E and 4E GURPS? What is the biggest draw for GURPS in the type of campaign I am planning on running? What are the dice requirements?
I've not run a WoD game since we played Vampire: the Masquerade maybe 12 years ago... We aren't really looking seriously at it as an option...
Aren't the Call of Cthulhu rules just modified d20? It truly does sound like an awesome system if it has the whole madness dynamic!
I truly know very little about Alternity at all, anything that suggests it would be a good system for me?
Never even heard of Dead Reign...
What's Don't Rest Your Head (what dice or whatnot does it use)?
What's the synopsis of the Trail of Cthulhu system (what dice or whatnot does it use)?
P.H. Dungeon wrote: For a zombie survival game, I really feel like you need a system that deals well with called shots and hit locations. You always need to be making those head shots or taking out their legs to slow them down. I haven't seen a lot of systems that really seem to do that well... It would probably also be good to have a system that deals with fear and sanity because really good zombie horror is always more to do with the psychology of the characters than just shooting zombies. ^ this is EXACTLY what I am talking about...
So describe the Twilight:2K13 system please; what's the system like? Any upsides to the system? Downsides?
Outbreak: Undead looks okay, but I'd seriously need to hear from some roleplayers who have used it and get their description of the system... Anyone out there who has played it?
The only upswing to the D6 system is that most of us are familiar with the system, having played a long term D6 Star Wars campaign back in the 1990's... We love it, you can become very highly powered characters, but nearly perfectly stay balanced with the enemies (depending on the GM of course)...
I have the Castle Falkenstein book, it's a fantasy steampunk setting originally, but it is modular enough to use for most anything... And it uses CARDS instead of dice, I've never actually played it, but it's been around forever!
Tri-Stat DX looks like it could be made to fit my needs well, it has a varied scale depending on whether you want to play normal characters or superheroes... Very cool, and I've done a single one-shot with it (d12 steampunk) and we all liked it, though it is strange!
We looked into True20, and have done an old west and a bronze age campaign with it... While it worked EXCELLENTLY for those campaigns, it is not really able to provide the grittiness we all want in the system...
Anyway, thanks SO much for the help you've already provided, and any information you can help with would be awesome!

Alright, I am a long time GM, I've done games in many systems over the years, and found that some are more flawed than others. Our regular Pathfinder game is coming to an end do to people moving out of state, but others have stepped up and proposed that to begin playing a different game completely...
What they are hoping for is a semi-original zombie filled post-apocalyptic roleplaying game, and it's got me fairly excited... I'm writing up an original world synopsis, the only thing we are lacking at the moment is a system in which to run our game. Alright so first let me give you the broad strokes of what the game is to be, after which I will tell you what I want out of a system, and list those systems which I am considering. I hope to get some feedback on what you think of these systems, the upsides and the downsides (if you have experience with them), whether you think the particular system fits my needs, and I'd appreciate if you could steer me towards any system or game which is more fitting than those listed...
The Pitch:
The setting is very near-future earth, the characters are to be survivors but other than that relatively normal humans, in the worst imaginable situation. I am planning on populating this world with a few types of zombies, human cannibals, and probably minor (not completely ridiculous) human and animal mutants. Since the game will be set in the southwest, other adversities I plan on using include lack of water, vital supplies, ammunition, and food stuffs (all pretty standard post-apocalyptic fare). My goal is to make every encounter TRULY perilous, and if not thought through, probably deadly. I figure the zombie problem will have arisen AFTER the apocalyptic disaster, which I figure will be a perfect storm of complete multinational financial collapse, concurrent with a global pandemic (culling roughly 85% of the human population), and unchecked scientific avarice (leading to mutations (NOT superheroes!!! Just speed boosts and strength increases and such) and the zombies). All of my players, and myself, want the entire game to be a struggle to survive.
We are completely happy with this world, and don't want to edit it, or change it for a system! Prepackaged post-apocalyptic settings will most likely not work for us...
What I need from a system:
My players are all experienced roleplayers, and each have been in one game or another with me for the last 20 years or so, and here's what they think the system needs, along with what I know I need. What we are hoping for is a system which is more about roleplaying than "ruleplaying", which will give me the freedom to make the game suspenseful and challenging, even when we are not bashing zombie brains. From the system, ABOVE ALL we need grittiness, realism, and believability; I need a system which can handle the survival horror roleplaying without much trouble, and something which, while allowing us to improve our characters as we progress, is not going to allow us to be able to become overpowered in a few sessions. Lastly, I have to note that I do not intend to use All Flesh Must Be Eaten, because after running a few Buffy the Vampire Slayer games a few years back, by the end of one "season" (less than 6 months of weekly "episodes") all of the PC's were WICKEDLY OVERPOWERED, even though I reduced experience I gave them to the system minimum. I am loathe to use the Uni-system again, even though the rest of the system was truly great.
Here's the possible roleplaying systems I am considering: (PLEASE tell me your opinions on any you've played, PLEASE... I am desperate!)
BESM roleplaying system
Castle Falkenstein roleplaying system
D6 roleplaying system
Risus roleplaying system
Tri-Stat DX roleplaying system
If I'm missing something obvious, let me know please! Thanks for any help, seriously... We can get started as soon as I know what system we are going to use and generate the bad guys, so any help would be AWESOME!
Any help, suggestions, criticisms?

Alright, so I am running a Kingmaker campaign, and have been having nothing but fun with it, but several of my players wanted (and either through feats or through class features should be getting) special mounts or Animal Companions (ACs to use as loyal battle and exploration mounts for the most part)... My entire group (out of character, heh) really don't particularly like horses, and though they have been riding warhorses and camels none of them particularly care about their mounts. I decided I wanted to reward their excellent roleplaying and interesting critical thinking (which of course makes my job as a GM much more fun!) with reasonable, but unique and utilitarian animals to suit their needs... I told them that if it was within reason, fit the setting, and was within my power to find, I'd allow them to choose something particularly special to each of them.
In character mind you, while camping in the Greenbelt, they talked through what they thought the ideal creatures to service them would be, and the result was that the entire group wanted to have some semblance of uniformity and would like to have very similar ACs and mounts. After lengthy (mostly IC with a few OC) discussions over several session, they decided they'd all like some form of weasel as a mount or AC. To my chagrin, there isn't a dire weasel companion in Pathfinder at the moment, and there really isn't a lot that is similar.
In an attempt to give them what they want (and rightfully deserve in my opinion), I am attempting to create a few variations on the theme of a "giant weasel animal companion"... I am no expert in homebrewing, and HONESTLY, this is my first (and probably only) attempt at creating a balanced Animal Companion. I NEED feedback to make sure this isn't completely ridiculous. Here's the needs, and why I chose to do what I did:
I needed companions which could be ridden at 4th level by medium sized characters, and not just once they got a 7th level advancement.
I needed companions strong enough to carry the player characters and their very standard gear.
I needed a smaller version of the companions which was not intended as a mount (for a druid character who's companion just fell in battle, and is planning on taking the feat Signature Mount (Tripod Machine – Adventuring Classes)) but rather as a sidekick.
And, I needed companions which seemed like weasels (not just a camel, bear or badger redone).
Please tell me if these three are feasibly playable, comply with my needs, and if they seem to be weaselly enough...
Savage Ermine
Starting Statistics: Size Large; Speed 70ft.; AC +1 Natural Armor; Attack Bite (1d8 plus trip); Ability Scores Str 12, Dex 23, Con 10, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 12; Special Qualities low-light vision, scent.
7th-Level Advancement: Attack Bite (1d10 plus trip); Ability Scores Str +6, Con +2; Special Qualities Grab, Pounce, Sprint.
Dire Mink
Starting Statistics: Size Large; Speed 50ft.; AC +1 Natural Armor; Attack Bite (1d8); Ability Scores Str 13, Dex 19, Con 13, Int 2, Wis 15, Cha 15; Special Qualities scent.
7th-Level Advancement: Size Huge; Attack Bite (2d6); Ability Scores Str +8, Dex -2, Con +4; Special Qualities Grab, Pounce.
Giant Stoat
Starting Statistics: Size Small; Speed 50ft.; AC +1 Natural Armor; Attack Bite (1d6); Ability Scores Str 15, Dex 17, Con 14, Int 2, Wis 11, Cha 13; Special Qualities Grab, Scent.
4th-Level Advancement: Size Medium; Speed 60ft.; Attack Bite (1d8); Ability Scores Str +6; Special Qualities Pounce, Powerful Charge, Sprint.
If any of them seem overpowered, underpowered, badly balanced, or whatever, please let me know! I am still wodering whether or not the Natural Armor bonus is fitting, but I left it in... I wish I knew better what I was doing, but having never really run Pathfinder until we started Kingmaker, I truly am just a little lost when it comes to homebrewing...
Thanks for any help!
Thanks...
Should be usable... I'll honestly probably use both of those... One for AniComs and the other for the special mounts...

So, after much in, and I must admit more than I'd've liked OUT of character discussion, one of my players had an interesting idea which I'll okay just as soon as I know if there's some place to find stats/AniCom info for the creature... All of the players settled on wanting the same type of animal for their animal companions, signature mounts [see Tripod Machine's PFRPG suppliment A Fistful of Denarii], and mounts...
This was to help with parody, and to foster an in character group solidarity (within a group who NEVER agrees on ANYTHING, but is fun and interesting to no end), and wasn't MY idea but theirs...
So, not wanting to drag this out any longer than necessary, does anyone know of any resource (3.5, PFRPG, and ANY 3PP is acceptable... + I DO mean ANY usable source) which has stats for a giant weasel/ermine/mink/ferret which is large enough to be ridden by medium characters? If there is a source I haven't found it, despite looking...
If there is no source, I guess I can ATTEMPT to homebrew one, but it's in no way in my wheelhouse to build a creature like this! Are there any issues that might come up with this (CR too high, attacks too strong, etc...) which might make a giant weasel an unsatisfactory mount for a Kingmaker party in the 4 - 6 range? And lastly, if there aren't any sources, I'll post my attempts at making one until I get it right (if I need revisions I SINCERELY hope someone would help with edits and fixes)...
Seriously, thanks for any help...
Cool, I'll write up some rumors and small history's to add to what I've already told them... They REALLY want to depose the Sword Lord! They are also talking, in character mind you, of borrowing vast amounts of money to bankrupt a nation (Brevoy or the like)... Seems unlikely, but these guys have been doing some INTERESTING roleplaying up 'til now...
Thanks for the heads-up, only just got the 5th volume of Kingmaker today... I am SERIOUSLY enjoying this AP, where I've hated GMing other APs for years, this is SOOOOO sandbox-y, and they can just run wild, and that freedom has led to player creativity, something too often lacking in roleplaying APs... Still, I've loved EVERYTHING Paizo has put out up to this point...
Anyway, any tips on fun things to add in to the textural backdrop of the stories, being as I haven't yet read the 5th and 6th volumes yet? (We're moving at a snail's pace so I have been in no particular rush)

Actually that's a really good idea, I don't homebrew much, but that seems feasible, what would the CR adjustment on something like that be? How about Expeditious Retreat as a SLA (on top of some of the rest of this), what do you think that'd raise the CR adjustment to, and do you think that'd be too much?
I love what you've done there, but for my purposes, that may be too many feats...
And for clarity's sake, the creatures I intend to use this template on are:
Dire Wolves
Grizzly Bears
Weasels
Wolves
Wolverines
And maybe some Bestiary II animals...
The odd man out, probably a giant ant and/or giant bee...
The thing is, I want my players to have a "Oh, another stupid wolf pack, lets... Ahhhhh, Holy $#~-!" moment... They are getting jaded with normal exploration type animal scenarios... I THINK a FAST creature could seriously mess with their little munchkin brains a bit *maniacal evil chuckling*, but I honestly know they would both appreciate it, and have fun with it...
I may long term use a template on other animals, or a Devil's mount or something...
I have a godson name Perseus Xavier Ficke... He's 13 now (14 in less than a month), and his class is FULL of unusual names, and some old standards... As far as I know (and I am very close with my godson) no one has ever bugged him about having a strange name... And I honestly think it's a beautiful name for him...
Culture evolving in the way it is, strange (fantasy, sci-fi, pop culture influenced) names are not uncommon at all these days... And I am glad that it's not like when I was a kid where in my first grade class there were:
5 Johns
3 Matthews
3 Todds
2 Richards
2 Marys
4 Katherines (various spellings)
I mean, at some point variety is what makes things worthwhile (look at Pathfinder, man!)...
Now, I don't particularly love the name Aragorn, but that has more to do with the way it rolls off the tongue... I say, name your children with meaningful names to you, wherever you find those names.
To save my sanity (and I feel stupid for not knowing), where's the best place to find information on Brevoy, Restov, and the Sword Lords... Playing through Kingmaker, and this time around (without a bard wouldn't you know) my players are PLAGUED with questions about the area. Last time around, everyone just wrote off that information as unimportant to the stabbings!
Anyway, the information that was easy to pass on (that which is listed in the Kingmaker AP books and the TINY amount which is in the Guide to the River Kingdoms) but they are wanting more information, and I want to give them what they want...
Lastly, after seeing a large map (not the player the PC) one of my players want to go on the war path and continue the "exploration" into Mivon and Pitax, and the others are thinking of going along for the ride... Any MAJOR problems with this?
Hey, I was wondering, in order to juice a few creatures up, does anyone know of a good template which increases a creature's speed? Doubling would be awesome, but really whatever there is would be great! And if there is, what book would I find it in?
Thanks everyone!
So, with the release of Ultimate Magic, any absolute must adds?
We've just begun the Second book in the Kingmaker campaign in earnest... The Party is mostly 5th level, and a single 4th level...

So, I've been running a Kingmaker game for a while now, and am enjoying it IMMENSELY! I have 3 players who are on the verge of getting either a Special Mount or an Animal Companion, and would like to award these players for GREAT game play! Anyway, my question is this... What would you recommend as a good Special Mount for a Kingmaker player? Horses are too mundane to seem like an award, so I don't know what to use... Giant Elk, Camels, and Bison all met to less than excited reactions when they were floated to the players (personally I find the idea of riding a Giant Elk to be AWESOME!), but I want something wild... I considered an Eagle or a Giant Raven (HoH I believe), but don't know how a flying mount might mess with the dynamics, exploration, or whatnot... Any ideas that'd be fun, and cool, and still not unbalanced would be GREATLY appreciated!
Also, one player is picking up an animal companion, and he wants something aside from those listed in the core book or Kingmaker Players Guide, but which is findable in the Greenbelt or nearby... Any insights?
Thanks for any help at all!
So, now that I am using the Oleg's map so frequently, running Kingmaker, what other maps would be useful enough to warrant purchasing them for Kingmaker?
Thanks for any help!
He's using the Equipment trait Heirloom Weapon...
I'd very much like to see several new materials also; bone, stone, chitin, rubber, maybe a new exotic metal as well, all come to mind! Anyway, what would you say a shotput would be? Simple? Martial? Exotic? What damage would you assume it'd do?
Alright, so after a fatal encounter during a Kingmaker session, one of my players is rolling up a new character... He decided on an alchemist, and even after reading through the Core Rulebook, the APG, and SGG's KK's Alchemical Surplus we both realized that there are WOEFULLY few actual alchemical items to choose from (Maybe two dozen that a low-level character could both use and afford), and so I bring my query here... He wishes to play a little bit of a steampunky alchemist, and has said he intends to use his two starting feats (human) to get EWP's in battle poi and in flaskthrower. Seems reasonable enough to me... SO, is there any PFRPG/3.5 source AT ALL (third party is perfectly acceptable!), which gives a good solid list of alchemical items? I am loathe to allow homebrew stuff but pretty much anything else is cool...
He is starting at level four, that known are there any feats which would be completely indispensable?
Thanks everyone!
How about:
Critical: 17-20/x2
Better?
So anything you would add or subtract from this spell list to get a more "Pathfinder" feel?
Just spitballing, but here are three more ideas I've had for quite some time now:
I think SGG would do an amazing job of putting out a race guide to Large and maybe even larger (but still balanced and playable) player species... Maybe something along the lines of The Genius Guide to Races of Height and Heft...
Also, another Kragnar's guide would be AWESOME (my players absolutely DEVOURED the items in the last one)! Maybe this time covering weapons like those touched upon in Gnomes of Golarion...
Lastly, I think it would be UNBELIEVABLE to have a Genius Guide for a melee type class that uses gravity in it's attacks... No idea what you'd call the class, but I'd imagine it would use gravity to add to damage on attacks, to make area of effect attacks, and to pin people down...
Sorry if these don't seem feasible, just tossing some ideas out there!
Thanks for looking them over...

I know it isn't a Super Genius product but have you checked out Cerulean Seas? I had NOT, WOW this one looks amazing! Still, I'd love to see the SGG guys get their hands on a races book that covers the same!
Wait, Animal Domain Clerics receive an analogous ability to "special mount"?

Alright, bought the APG anyone know if there are any good additions to the DN spell list from Ultimate Magic (as I don't have that one)?
As far as I can tell Dread Necro's get no cantrips (which is fine), just checking this to be correct...

So anything glaringly omitted? Anything need to be rearranged for the Pathfinder system? I know I'm asking a lot... sorry...
If I do REPLACE any spells on the spell list at all, it'd be anachronistic spells (at least in my mind)...
Anyway, thanks for the help...
So using the Leadership feat, could a character with 19 Charisma and a base level of 7 pick up a Dire Ape as a mount cohort? Is there an obvious better choice? Any ideas?
I think a new Genius Guide to aquatic and semi-aquatic species (something like The Genius Guide to Races of Flipper and Fin) could be AWESOME!
Thanks so much Kaisoku! This comes in handy, and I have been considering what to do as far as cutting one or two of the DN's spells... And for the record it's a Neutral Kingmaker campaign, but the players have seen to it that it seems to be leaning toward the evil!
Honestly, I drink a lot of the SGG Kool-aid, I'm sure I'll buy whatever comes out that appeals to me, but not having read every post, and assuming voting is still running, I'd love to see sequels to both Godling books and the Armiger! In our Kingmaker campaign we currently have an ALL SGG class party, and are cleaning up!
FYI, party make up is:
Asterion Armiger (shield and spear)
Goblin Adept Godling (dexterity caster, most AMAZING!)
Goblin Templar (late party arrival, still kicking tail)
Human Armiger (dual wielding shields)
Human Mighty Godling (slayer of bandits-a-plenty!)
Piper Eldritch Godling (damage in a can!)
Without kissing TOO much butt, thanks SOOO much for the products! What's in store for the release schedule this year?
I feel like a bit of a fool for not knowing this, but do any other PFRPG/3.5 base classes (not looking for prestige classes at the moment), including from ANY third party materials, contain the "special mount" class feature that Paladin gets, or any feasibly analogous class feature (NOT including the likes of a Druid's Animal Companion)?
Thanks for any help, please let me know the source if you know of one!
So, in an upcoming Kingmaker reset (after a TPK and a months break), one of my characters is lobbying to play a Dread Necromancer... After reading the entire AP once again, and the class multiple times, I am pretty sure I am going to allow it, and I would like to toss him just one or two more spells (which of course must FIT the class and its other spells) at each level... If it were you, which spells would you most lean toward adding (I'd love to see some useful or cool third party spells on this list as well!)?
Thanks for the help, and please tell me the source of any spell you list!
So, how do you think the following works for an untipped (lethal) fencing foil:
Fencing Foil:
Light Exotic Weapon
Cost: 50 gp
Damage: 1d2 (Small), 2d2 (Medium), 2d3 (Large)
Critical: 15-20/x4
Weight: 1 lbs.
Type: Piercing
Is this too ridiculous? The dynamic of it not work? I thought about making it a martial weapon, but with all of the years of practice it takes to become as accurate as is necessary to fence, I figure Exotic just makes more sense...
Please let me know what you think, and please submit some more weapons you'd like to see!
For the record, as a fencer (or at least someone who took fencing lessons for all of Junior High, High School and College, but hasn't fenced for a decade or more) a fencing foil is WAY more accurate, and does WAY less damage than a rapier... A rapier is honestly 10 times as wide, and at least three times heavier than you'd expect even a heavy foil to be...
Two other weapons which nearly made my list:
Executioner's Sword
Shotput (throwing a large metal ball should be fun!)
@Oliver Yeah, I would GREATLY like to see some additional weapon materials... That could be awesome!

So, assuming that Ultimate Combat has an equipment section with some weapons (a fair assumption being that we know there'll be Katana and the like in there), what five weapons would you most like to see included in the list?
My list:
Fencing Foil (For YEARS I've really yearned to see stats for both the lethal and non-lethal versions!)
Gunsen (Who wouldn't want a folding war fan!)
Kusarigama (I'd VERY much like to see stats for both the weighted end style and double kusarigama!)
Nagamaki (Who needs more polearms? I DO! I mean a sword on a stick is my kind of FUN!)
Tomahawk (Both as a hand ax and a thrown weapon, though I could SWEAR this was somewhere in PFRPG already...)
That's just my two cents, please let me know what you'd like to see!
Thanks!
A few weapons almost made my list, here they are:
Atlatl (as both a club-like weapon and a spear thrower...)
Iklwa Spear (a short spear renowned for it's razor sharp blades effective for both thrusting and slashing!)
Multi-barreled firearms (two- and four- barreled pistols and double guns... Maybe with useful shotgun spread rules...)
So I have a very simple question, is there a feat or class feature in the PFRPG/3.5 system analogous to Evasion, but for Fortitude saves...
I could SWEAR I'd read of one somewhere...

Alright, I've been wicked busy, but here's and initial attempt at a low-level aberration... tell me what you guys think...

Special Abilities
Strangle (Ex) Bothrii have an unerring talent for seizing their victims by the neck. A creature that is grappled by a bothrii cannot speak or cast spells with verbal components.
Bothrii are an eyeless, earless node of black flesh with an exceedingly small lamprey-like mouth. A bothrii spends the majority of its life searching for rotting meats, folded upon itself rolling through wet underground passages. When threatened, a bothrii extends two long thin tentacles and wraps itself around whatever it can find to suffocate and devour over the weeks to come.
JadedDemiGod wrote: ...and the Grindylow (CR 1/2)... Now that sounds interesting... What are it's properties?
Also, sorry I am looking for something frightening for my players in the same aberrant realm... I am planning on using a "steampunked" version of the Organ grinder from "the Book of Unremitting Horror", and I expect it to take them off guard... Any other frightening smaller Aberrations which you guys can think of?
Lastly, I am really looking for a good stated out homebrew little choker-esque creature or two... Anyone have one, or want to take a shot at making one?

So, if I used say "assimilated" mites, would that throw the low CR I need out the window? Could I feasibly toss a small mob (1d6+2) of them at a three member party (EXPERIENCED players with no true casters in the mix), starting at Apprentice levels? Or even at Level 1? I am curious, because this is what I need the creatures for...
By the end of the dungeon they will be roughly level 7, assuming they survive (they BEGGED me for a meatgrinder, and I am trying to give them one)...
Also, I had two ideas, which I have no idea how to implement or make into a pair stated out monsters... Akin to mimics or A'peril (Penumbra Fantasy Bestiary), I was wondering what the CR and stats of a potion mimic or a wand/weapon mimic would look like... They will run into the occasional mimic, so something very small which gives them an idea they can't trust a damn thing in the dungeon, would be AMAZING!
So, I am so happy you guys are helping out here!
I don't know how to make Pathfinder monsters yet, and homebrew monsters/creatures were never my forte... Anyway, what do you think the most efficient use of tendril beast like this would be? Small mobs of gnolls/goblins/cats?
And a bit off topic, does anyone remember what resource goblin dogs were from?
Thanks so much guys...

Alright, so I am building a LARGE dungeon for an upcoming PFRPG adventure... I have decided to populate the dungeon almost entirely with aberrations, and while I am finding a great deal of creatures to fill the lower depths of the dungeon, I am coming up short with lower level aberrations to use in the earliest part of the dungeon. As I am pretty new to PFRPG, I'd greatly like some help creating a few low-level aberrations to toss at my players...
What I am looking for here ideally is a diverse handful of smaller/weaker creatures analogous to the larger creatures which they will find later (the VAST majority of the monsters I am including later in the adventure are of the subset of aberration like chokers & otyughs (grapple and squeeze types))... I am not looking for beholder-like creatures, and I am not looking for insectoid aberrations, just the tentacled horrors...
Optimally speaking, what I am shooting for is a group of aberrations in the CR ¼ to CR ½ level range... And I truly hope that you can help me out, as I seem unable to create any smaller aberrations which actually work!
ANY help would be extremely appreciated! And I am sure my players will thank you as well, as any feasible/balanced monster will be included in their dungeon adventuring!
Thanks immensely!
In addendum, any advice on monster design for PFRPG is VASTLY useful to me!
Ive had nothing but success with having goblin player characters in the past... If I was going to allow Grig as a playable, I'd definitely cut to the heart of the CL 9 Spell-Like abilities... I'd probably leave them with just Invisibility (self only), and would have their CL be their actual level... The DR/SR really doesn't seem feasible as a 1st level PC... And the above stats, though probably right, look a bit "wonky", I think I'm leaning toward not allowing them...
Thanks...
