I tried searching the Suggestion/House Rules/Homebrew section but did not find anything on this. If this has already been covered, just point me to that link.

If this should just go under Advice, I can move it there.

<end disclaimers>

Are there rules for standing on, and attacking, a huge creature? Something like running up an elephant and attacking it while on its back.

Why do I ask?

We are at the end of Wake of the Watcher, and giant creature has just appeared in the Mi-Go underwater lab. It can apparently fly, so now we can't reach it (and suspect arrows will bounce off it).

I'd like to spider climb up the walls/ceiling, then drop down on the beast and hack at the tentacles to try and free our cleric.

Would this be a kind of grapple? A series of Acrobatics checks to maintain balance while attacking? A series of Strength checks to hold on while attacking?

If this has come up before (pretty standard attack mode in fantasy battles against giant creatures), I am curious how others have handled this.

I asked my GM, since we continue this battle on Thursday, and he said to check the Forums on Paizo to see if I could find anything. If not, he will just make something up, but wanted to see what others have to say.

Thank you.

I have seen a number of Type Qualities with "do not breathe, eat, or sleep" in the description. Is there an agreed upon RP point cost for this? Are they broken down individually?

I notice, for example, that the Plant Type does not sleep, but does breathe and eat.

Just curious if anyone has seen an RP point break down for these abilities. Thank you.

I have searched the Paizo boards for posts on Gillmen, and I cannot find any post which breaks down the point cost for the Gillmen race. Please forgive me if this is a repeat (and please point me to that discussion).

Of particular interest to me are the "Enchantment Resistance" and "Water Dependent" point costs.

The "Slimehunter" racial trait replaces enchantment resistance, and I can see no drawback to Slimehunter (unlike Enchantment Resistance), so I assume Enchantment Resistance has a net positive point cost. But what is it? It is similar to Elven Immunities?

Water Dependent can be very deadly, so I would expect it to have a high negative cost. However, Throwback cancels it out be removing:
amphibious trait (2 RP)
aquatic subtype (0 RP)
swim speed and bonuses to the Swim skill (2 RP)

which, according to my math, would give "Water Dependent" a -4 RP cost.

Is that correct?

The Gillmen cost would be only 2 RP?!

Gillmen
0 RP Type: Humanoid (gillmen, aquatic)
0 RP Size: Medium
0 RP Base Speed: Normal speed
0 RP Ability Score Modifiers: Standard (+2 Con, +2 Cha, –2 Wis)
0 RP Languages: Standard

Racial Traits:
Defense Racial Traits
2 RP Enchantment Resistance (guessing value of 2)
Movement Racial Traits
2 RP Swim
Weakness Racial Traits
-4 RP Water Dependent
Other Racial Traits
2 RP Amphibious

Am I missing anything here?

On page 19 of Pathfinder 20 House of the Beast, there is a room called the Hall of the Mamluks (EL 8). But when I turn to page 20, the stats for room C6 Hatchery starts. Nothing is listed as being in room C5 which would give it an Encounter Level of 8, or any Encounter Level at all. Was this a misprint? Is this room empty, or was it meant to contain something?

Thank you

I would search the forum for the answer to this problem, but there seems to be an issue with the forum search. When I use the Forum Search function, it searches all of Paizo.com! I just want to search one section for grapple rules discussions, for example.

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.13. Is that a problem? Just curious if anyone else if having this same problem.

I am downloading Internet Exploder 7 right now, but I'd rather not use it.

Thank you.

Edit: Downloaded the Internet Exploder 7 .exe file and started the install. Of course, it crashed trying to install. This is why I am trying to avoid Microsoft products.
