Has anyone else here pre-ordered the VoE book Eoris Essence? Has anyone ever heard of such delays in getting something printed?

Ever looked at Mongoose? How often they push stuff back and the whole production mess with Cthulhutech which was a fair part of the reason they switched to Catalyst to produce their books, and in color too.

Then there are the books that some companies say are coming in the next few months then 3 years later still arn't out even though they were at one point on a release schedual. Production problems are nothing new in the rpg industry.

The first went to production and failed to meet quality standards, so VoE dropped them and went with a new one named D'Vinni. D'Vinni apparently strung VoE along for 6 months then sent VoE a vague letter stating they couldn't finish the project but it wasn't their fault.

Though this sounds like they wanted a company that would meet the quality they wanted for their book and then were taken for a ride by the second.

I saw the game at Gencon and talked with them a bit. I'd almost given up on it when I decided to see if anything new had been said yesterday and found what you mentioned about the art book on RPGnet.... first time I'd been there since that fiasco. Was not impressed with the people on that forum at all.

And when they do something new, they had best take their time designing and playtesting something that works better than the older MPC books

I completely agree. Sofar they are taking a good way to do things by having it out for playtesting before finalizing (the initial beta and now the new classes). I would like to see a book for this sooner than later like alot of others for not just PCs but making NPCs, whether friend or foe, but not at the expence of quality.

There are plenty of monsters that would work as both if properly balanced without taking away anything from the race. Though some of them would be better in a monsterous party rather than with the regular races.

I didn't read through the whole thread to see if this was mentioned but the sugestions I've seen sofar sound good. I'd actually like something like this myself though for a different reason.

A monsters as PC's book would be great so we can balance out what the players actually get from the race but it would also be a great tool for NPCs. Taking a look at the part on page 6 of the bestiary and comparing it to the Aasimar I was able to figure out what stat base was used given their bonuses are given. I did notice though that this doesn't always match up to the given stats as they have a +2 Int that wasn't accounted for with the information given in that part of the book.

I am curently trying to make a monsterous npc for one of my games and the one I'm looking at using I'm not sure if I should do it as a monster with class levels as discribed in the back or figure out it's stat plus and minus myself using the info given. I dont want it to be too powerful but I don't want to weaken too much either incase they choose to attack instead of diplomacy.
