Both Eli and raist seem to trancend even epic levels going by the stories they are in and i agree with that tbh.
However if we consider that raistlin not only became the most powerful wizard of his era by a large margin but also traveled back in time and took the knowledge and abilities of fistandantilus.
Fistandantilus as you may or may not be aware was a 1500 and 2000 year old archmage who used a bloodstone pendant to draw the life, experiaces and abilities from other mages to extend his life. Not only that but for most of that 1500-200 years he had been perposfully conditioning himself and building his power to fight and beat a greater god.
Raistlin took all that and added it to his own power when he used the bloodstone on fisty.
Now this in no way makes Eli a weak mage or means that raistlin would not find him a challenge as Eli's spell mastery and experiance means he uses his art fantastically well instead of just relying on sheer the power of it.
But all said and done Raistlin has the same or greater spell mastery, more experiance due to taking fistys memories and experiances and considerably more power.
RESULT = Raistlin takes it but it is a longer fight than most would expect due to Eli being not only a powerful but a crafty caster.
