A ranger in the party wood be handy as there's quite a lot of wilderness sections plus if you predict well the favoured enemy could give you lots of buffs throught the path.
A healer of one form or another is always obvious I'd go with a cleric for an extra damage dealer.
A thief is obvious in a party too, also a dedicated spell caster too.

I'm looking to create an effective archer but I don't just want a boring combat character. I've just finished playing a paladin so please don't suggest one, I've looked into a fighter but he's just combat orientated and a little boring.

Any suggestions gratefully appreciated

If a rogue takes two weapon fighting and uses a light weapon in his off hand, when he performs a sneak attack does he add the sneak attack bonus damage to both weapons if they hit for that turn?

I've looked at the prestige classes before but never quite saw how they could be as melee orientated as a dedicated fighter, barbarian or paladin. Also I couldn't see a prestige class that was as good a caster as a dedicated wizard or sorcerer.
The DM I'm playing with is only allowing the core rule book and advanced players guide.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I've never played a bard before as I've normal played a combat orientated character but I fancy a change, does any one have any advice on getting the best out of a bard. I understand that they stay out of combat and help other party members but other than that how do I get the best out of the class, all help gratefully received.

I've played a druid before with a tiger as an animal companion and liked the character, I was wondering if any one had any advice I'd like to play a druid that can play behind the animal companion but I don't want to play a large cat again. I liked the look of both the crocodile and the ape but have limitations, the Croc only one big attack per turn (and would stand out in towns).
I'm looking for animal companion to be far superior in combat than the druid both ac and damage dealing.

Does a paladin call upon the aid of a Celestial spirit for 1 minute per paladin level to gain the divine bond or does the paladin call upon the celestial spirit and the divine bond lasts for 1 minute per paladin level.
I guess I'm asking does the paladin pray for 1 min/lvl to gain the ability or does he pray then gains the ability for 1 min/lvl?

How does vital strike work when you hit with a critical? Do you double the amount damage dice and bonuses with the critical hit then double the amount of damage dice again with the vital strike?
