I dont beleive that Joachim was saying he wouldnt want to play in a balanced game. I believe that he was saying he wouldnt want to be in games with the DMs who are I AM GOD YOU WILL OBEY kinda DMs. I think what he was trying to say was that they are all adults and can handle themselves accordingly. Maybe Im wrong but thats the way I took his post.

I think there are a few ways you can do this.
1. You can pull her aside and explain to her what you expect from her as a player.
2. You can talk to the other players and have them talk to her about whats expected from her as a player.
3. Or you can use my personal favorite and just engage the group in a session of mostly ROLEplaying with very little ROLLplaying. Get the other characters involved and all of you engage each other in just great roleplaying. She will either get into it with everyone else or she wont. If she doesnt then you really need to see if her player type is good for your group or not. Being your sis-in-law it might be very hard for you to dismiss her from the group so I really hope that it really goes well for all of you guys.

On a side note my wife and I just moved to Hill AFB from Germany in late March and I was wondering if you knew of any good Gaming Stores. We are looking get involved with another group when I get back from Iraq after the first of the year. Hope my advice helps and Thanks for any help you can give me.

I am currently serving in Iraq, I was in Afghanistan last holiday season as well. My wife and kids are getting a litlle sick of it. I would like to thank each and every one of you guys for your kind words and thoughts. I know that being over here isnt the same as being at home but our leaders really try hard to make it a little like home. Thank you all and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

Im hoping that the next time I see Qatar Ill be on my home.

In regards to leveling up I approach it like we approach training in my career field in the Air Force. We have whats called OJT (on the job traing). You learn as you do, and when your supervisor/trainer feels you are competent enough on that task you are qualified and you can do that task with no further training or supervision. Most of my players have been in the military so this works really well for them.

Just 2 cents from a guy in Iraq.
