Remember the 80's Justice Friends? The narrator would change scenes by saying "Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice..." Here's the game: Type "Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice..."
i.e. "Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice..."
I friend of mine asked for some help creating some villains for his game.(I don't play in it for clarity) He has asked for a vampire that is around level 12-15.
With that said, what would your opinions be on base creature? What about splitting focus between SLA's and melee? He also wants the BBEG to have lieutenants I has thinking an oracle rather that a cleric for a high priest. I can picture the vampires ego not wanting competition with his patron A fighter that would be his master at arms or even stalwart defender A bard for a espionage expert A cavalier for a field marshal The idea I have is that the BBEG is approached in stages. Like the PC's must overcome the lies of the Bard and clear their name before they can advance. Maybe even stopping the Bard from send intel on the PC's. Then as the PC's approach the BBEG's stronghold, they face the marshal and small mounted contingent The final fight could be between the oracle, fighter, and BBEG. Any idea's would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
I only get to play once or twice a year, so when an opportunity opened up I jumped on it. My idea for the character was a dwarven smith that had a unique bond with metal. He was driven by desire for perfection that he set out to find dwarven arms and armor of legend. We ended up going against a clan of drow vampires that had taken residence in an ancient dwrven hall. Since we played the once shot at 10th level I chose clouded vision as my curse. It ended working well against darkness SLA's and sneaking drow. It was the first time I tried an oracle and I really enjoyed playing it.
Next weekend my best friend and myself will be meeting up with an old friend to game and catch up. My best friend hasn't played in around 10 years so I thought I would make an Archery focused Ranger and keep it simple. For me I kinda want to play an Oracle but I also kinda want to do a Dwarven Fighter and build him to be more dwarfy than any dwarf who dwarfed. With the guy running there will inevitably be moments where we spend 10-20 minutes laughing at crude in game jokes. The creation guides lines are level 10 4d6 and drop the lowest. What kind of suggestions do you folks have given the above info? Thanks
I've been playing and DMing for the past 12 years. The past seven I've been the main DM for my group. When I look at the feats that modify spell casting, it's a level requirement. Now when I see a feat tree like the fighters weapon focus. That player has to burn four slots when one scaling feat would suffice. I have read about the lack of flexibility to some martial characters. I think some of that could be addressed by streamlining feats to make out of combat feats more available. Streamlining could also open up a master of many styles type combatant. Anyways, it's just a thought that been nagging me for a while. Thanks for taking time to read.
My players have died and I'm using the death and return to life as a means to grant a 2nd mythic tier(involving a test of riddles and trail by combat). The game will focus on the players making it back to the Prime Material Plane. My thought is that a celestial guide will escort them to Sigil where they will meet up with a being with a port key to the astral plane, and then from there reconnecting their umbilical cords. The group wakes 10 years later in an elaborate tomb with a prophesy inscribed promising the hero's would return to destroy the White Queen. So in Sigil, my thought was to have their contact missing with one or more factions looking for he/she/it. So here I am looking for thoughts or suggestions involving the factions and the reason the contact is missing or gone into hiding. The CR's would need to be 8-10...10 is the max they can handle right now. In the astral sea, I'm pretty sure I want a roaming astral shark as a random encounter if it calls for it. I've had one idea about the astral sea. They are semi close to a mass of land with temple ruins on it. They spot a Githyanki Carrock and need to hide(or knowing my players try to take the ship). At the temple ruins is a group of githyanki monks guarding a Silver Sword that is imbedded in the floor at the center of the temple. The land mass would actually be a dead mythic being and the silver sword is keeping it from regenerating. So if the group defeats the monks and takes the silver sword it gives me a) future story/encounters with githyanki and b) Gives me a possible capstone to the game with the mythic being able to return. So, if the idea crap? What wold you add to or take away? Would you approach things completely differently? Thanks in advance from a tired old DM.
The group I run likes to play scifi a bit more than traditional high fantasy. So I am in the planning stages for a sci fi game, I am going to what the want out of the game before I get too deep. I've gotten the PDF's of Santiago: A Myth of a Far Future as a starting point for class selections and creating aliens. Unless the group votes otherwise, we will start with the known universe colonized and a single planet in Alpha Centauri. I will post some ideas for technology and the settlement of Alpha Centauri in other posts. I'd like opinions and suggestions on the creation of the universe or even multiverse.
I've seen a couple threads building different comic book themed characters. So being a fan of the old Punisher War Zone and War Journal comics I thought we could work on this theme. My first thoughts on classes would be: Urban Ranger or maybe just Ranger to reflect his time in Vietnam.
My bi monthly game I run is falling close to Christmas so I thought I would do a warped Christmas game. My group founded a kingdom using Ultimate Campaign rules at the end of the game last session. So the next session will be going to the first turn of the kingdom running. I want to have a crisis scenario where the children of the kingdom are being kidnapped by fey. The group is 7th level consisting of an alchemist, MOMS monk, paladin, inquisitor, and archer ranger. Non optimized. I know I want to use redcaps that clues to where Santa Clawz is hiding the children. Maybe gremlins and I haven't come up with a Santa type fey yet (maybe thin man?) I am thinking about having the lair in an unexplored hex. The time of year will be winter. So what do you guys think about the forest being enchant with a sleep like spell or hex with ghost sounds maybe mischievous will o wisps? Any ideas and input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The group I run has recently killed a vampire. Brainstorming for the next game besides the group setting up a kingdom and continuing the main plot, I had a an idea the vampire had a child with a mortal his son (see title of post) seeks vengeance either for killing his father. My first inclination is to make the dhampir a cleric using a skeletal white dragon to do the main part of the battle. Their character level is 9 but I would rate it around 11 from an in game windfall. What kind of ideas would could you lend for this type of scenario?
Hi, I'm running a homebrew setting with a party of 5, 5th level characters.
I know the Hells would send forces after the one who's contract is broken, I'm looking to augment some of my ideas. This first idea I had was for the people surrounding him to lemures cloaked to look like people, then the lemure to "melt" before they attack. How would you design encounters around Hell's Hitmen?
I am looking for an anti-pirate build to play Friday. I can only play once so I am going to stat out an NPC. The gm told me to go with 18,16,16,14,14,10 for stats. It can't be a gunslinger and it has to be able to sail a ship.
The game I have in the works starts the group out at an expert level class. I'm doing this to set the roots of my game and their characters, also to play through the transition to adventurer. I will have a "Choosing Day" where they will compete against NPCs for the right to apprentice with a master craftsman. Each member of the town with spend time on guard duty. I was thinking of tasks to role play through related to the job they've apprenticed to. So far I've made mining, smiting, carpentry, baking, brewery, huntsman, husbandry, herbalist(apothecary) Thanks |
